Posts Not Meeting 'Quality Guidelines.
Ask a Question
Anyone else get their post removed for not meeting quality guidelines? I'm wondering why we don't get told they don't meet them after they've been posted/shared? Why can't we be told about posting them?
Strange you should mention this , as i did first thing this morning, an hour later someone else posted the same deal which is still up. Have used the contact button asking for clarification, but not yet received a response. First time in almost eighteen months i have had this happen and no idea why.
Hey Our usual email handler is enjoying a well earned holiday at the moment. We're still looking after emails but a little slower than usual! Hopefully we'll get back to your query soon and clarify what's happened but feel free to tag me if you haven't heard anything in a few days
Mango4 Hello, I received your email in regards to the 24 cans of coke. That was put into moderation because it did not contain price information. I have fixed this post for you and put live again. I have also replied directly to your email. For more assistance, please feel free to reply to the email.
I had a post that was removed because it didnโt match the quality guidelines and then someone else posted the same post with the same quality and that remained! Iโm not sure what the issue was as the new post was the same as mine! I did report the second post with comments to say happy for that post to remain but would like to know why mine was removed but didnโt get a response.
But in response to your question, do you mean being informed before the post is posted and why we are informed only after the post is shared?
Hi AnnaAddams
We've recently updated the guidelines to include some more specific guidance that's worth checking if you receive that message.
If you're still none the wiser please do drop us a message via the contact form and we can look into this for you and provide a more detailed response
Kelsey I tried that, sadly response was not good "see guidelines" and a screenshot of what I'd posted, still looked good to me
lilyflower Hey We get many emails where people havenโt yet read the guidelines so itโs often our first go to recommendation. Of course if youโre none the wiser having done so do feel free to respond saying as much and then we can look into it in more detail
Kelsey I've moved on, it's annoying when it happens but these things do. It's not as if I've lost ยฃยฃยฃยฃ's. I like the interaction not necessarily the points, they are a nice bonus
lilyflower I see in the new guidelines that the link/photo should be to the actual item not the generic retailers home page/logo .
I welcome this as I see too many "lazy" posts with the photo being the "Klarna" symbol or retailers logo . Only takes 20 secs to copy and paste an actual photo of the item ?
Golfforall I agree, a photo of a radio station or logo doesn't really tell you what you could win. I always look for something appropriate but even then it doesn't always work, the one mentioned below that was removed definitely had a pic of what was on offer.
Kelsey Loving the new enhanced guidelines - they eliminate any doubt on deals and vouchers. With a bit of luck it will be the end of three identical deals with different colour options. The only thing I would have highlighted is the freebie that is really a draw/competition and has a finish date.
Yes, had more than one, it would be nice to know exactly what guideline is didn't meet. Had one removed because it didn't have picture/price, it had both when posted. One after 7 days someone had 'pipped' me. Reported one - advised this was incorrect but the post is no longer there. Confusing at times
I hate it when that happens. I reckon in situations like that, people are reporting cos they want the points.
I think it would be great if we received a warning that the post doesnโt meet the quality guidance and a chance to improve it before is removed
Hey I agree! This isnโt technically possible at the moment but is certainly an approach Iโd personally prefer
Someone obviously decides it wrong to remove it and send the message, Maybe a better option if they just assisted us to put it right in the first place, if we don't know whats wrong we can't put it right.
kikogpe I don't for one minute doubt the effort and work involved by you all and I fully believe like other site you deserve an extra reward for your efforts . However realistically as the membership of the site increased surely it would also make more sense to recruit additional mentors/ moderators/editors whatever you prefer to call them,to cope with demand and maintain standards.
Mango4 I agree there, I don't want to be funny but why are volunteers doing the job for nothing, it seems rather cheeky especially with the site growing all the time and any publicity it gains is beneficial, all sites are there to gain recognition and to make money aren't they, so, summing it up, the owners/partners are making money and the hard work is done by volunteers with no pay, some firms would be rubbing their hands together in glee at that one!! x
Hi JoTarpley
LD has a team of employees. I don't know exactly who they are, where their office is. Volunteers, as the name says, help without expecting a financial return, as well as we have no obligation to work. As I said in other topics, I got to LD because of the competition page a long time ago and I like to help because LD provides me with this competition page that I like so much.
The vast majority of forums and internet communities have volunteers to moderate pages, chats, etc. This is absolutely common, they are people who offer free time while they are browsing the site, with no obligation of schedules or daily tasks to fulfill.
Cheers
Hey, thank you for your message. If you're ever unsure please feel free to contact us for more information and clarification. We check team emails usually once per working day.
I have reviewed your post, and removed it from moderation It is now sold out though, and so I have also expired the post.
With best wishes,
Tom
Tom Not surprised it sold out it was a good deal so still donโt why you removed it. Never mind, stay safe and carry on.
Well I just had a comp taken off earlier tonight as a duplicate eyeballkerry
but the 'duplicate' wasn't and the original was posted by me 5 months ago and had expired and the brand just happened to post the same prize for a new comp when they hadn't posted a comp for months and I've had it taken off and points deducted yet again, I'm losing soooo much lately that I'm beginning to wonder if this constant effort is worth it to be honest! x
I had one removed due to duplicate but it didnโt come up as being already shared until few days later. Checks the already posted deal only for it to be from 29 days ago. Who goes back that far then the same poster put back on so obviously reported my deal to repost.
Hey Ann1984 totally agree it can be frustrating for a post to be marked as a duplicate many days after it's been posted! Unfortunately it's one of those grey areas where technically, it's true - we only allow one post per deal - and we rely on fellow members to report things. We're always trying to improve our systems and do try where possible to flag that a deal may be a possible duplicate before posting, but it's not always possible. If you have any ideas we're very open to feedback and suggestions on how to improve things.
Tom thank you it was frustrating as was so popular trending etc for it to be removed after so long. Is there not a time scale where posts expire. That could be a option losing the points donโt matter it was just so far back for it to come back on after mine been reported. Never mind you win some you lose some
Ann1984 Hey, no we don't currently auto-expire posts after a certain time as they could still be working. For example, if you searched for a deal e.g. "LEGO Harry Potter" and deals were months old but still working, we'd want to show them as active. However, we're always looking and thinking about how to improve things and this is certainly an area that needs some work! Thanks again for your contributions and I look forward to your next one!
Thank you for your message. As this is a personal support query, please can you contact us (select "other" > "Still no good, drop us a message") and provide the URL to the post in question. We can assist you further there and it's not at risk of getting lost as it is in Chat. Thanks!
Hey everyone, thank you for this Chat post. It's been really useful for feedback. We are actively working on improving our communication for when posts don't meet our guidelines.
- We have improved our Guidelines to make it clearer
- We may improve the notifications you receive when something goes into Moderation to give more explanation
- We are looking at the feasibility of allowing you to edit a post after it's been post into moderation and to re-submit it.
If you have a support query about a particular thing, please use our Contact form and we're always happy to assist where possible.
I'm going to close this Chat thread now as it's starting to receive personal support queries, which Chat isn't for and they're at risk of getting lost. Thanks again and do message us if you have any further questions.
