If PPE Is Becoming Mandatory On Public Transport Should It Be Given For Free?

In the 15th of June wearing a mask is becoming mandatory and if you don't wear one you could be fined is it fair that people who might barely able to pay for the bus is it fair that they will now be obliged to wear one should they be given for free at the start of the bus. This is me being curious I wanna know peoples opinion its not a debate.
QwErTy1 PPE is not a requirement but face coverings are i.e a scarf or home-made mask. It's easy enough to wrap a scarf or bandana round your nose and mouth.
Speaking at the daily coronavirus briefing, Mr Shapps said face coverings would be "a condition of travel" and not wearing one could "ultimately" lead to a fine.
People will have to wear coverings on buses, trains, aircraft and ferries.
Very young children, disabled people and those with breathing difficulties would be exempt, he said.

Their advice since the start was to not use PPE and that is still the case. Anybody can cover their face quite easily with items found in the house.
Yep, leave PPE for those that need it. This week in Morrisons a couple shopping wearing blue gloves, masks and visors, was there any need - NO. They got out their car wearing it all, pushed the trolley, picked everything up, back to car and drove off still wearing it - blue gloves replacing skin!
lilyflower It's that typical stupidity I'm seeing everywhere. I saw someone on Facebook say they'd been for a 'socially distanced walk' together and then sat up close for a selfie at the end of it. 
I think it's great and like other countries have done it should be mandatory to wear masks out in public or at least in busy public spaces such as on public transport and in shops. I don't know if other countries have given out masks or people would have to purchase their own but I assume the latter. There are many diy solutions for those that can't or don't want to purchase masks but I think as long as prices are fair it possibly shouldn't be too much to ask for people to purchase their own.
No i think folk need to man up and just buy some to protect themselves and others. Harsh maybe but let’s not assume everything should be handed out please.
Quite right. Maybe if they have to pay for their own they won't feel quite so inclined to dump them in the streets as is often being reported.
Whilst I don't think masks should be made available free, It would be sensible for transport providers particularly at transport hubs to sell masks at cost price . Just hope that people don't feel that by wearing the masks they can take more chances thou and avoid any social distancing , as the masks are only an aid to avoiding the virus, also lets hope people dispose of their used masks sensibly.
Not given for free whatsoever, it is easy to grab hold of a mask for cheap or make your own imho. Portugal has this in place and people seem to be following the guidelines properly, which is always something to be proud of. They put in place a while ago that in order to go to the supermarket everyone needs to have a mask.
Obviously there is always an odd cat here and there that does not follow the rules but nothing to be worried about.
I am housebound so don't go out but if I had to, I would use a scarf as I can't physically make one due to my disability and can't afford to purchase any.
Just use a scarf or something.
A mask, scarf or any face covering is only effective if you or someone coughs or sneezes, it becomes totally useless if you've run your hands over seats, rails etc then remove face covering to touch, bit, suck fingers or pick nose before washing hands.
Or a burka, too.

I’m glad quite a lot of you agree with not supplying them free. I think the government has a lot to deal with without taking on the responsibility of providing free masks.
No. People should make their own.
That said, I drove past about 300 people lining the street today roses in hand waiting for a funeral hearse to pass by, chatting away merrily. No social distancing to be seen and no face masks.
This situation has confirmed one thing - there's a shed load of determined 'stupid' on the streets. 
Why would they be given away free? It's not as though we haven't been given plenty of warning and time to sort something for personal use.
It's not like it'll make you safer, most are just using something (cloth, etc) to cover their nose and mouth.
You may call me "careless" if you want, but I'll only use a mask when absolutely required. I'm not in a third world after all.
PhilipMarc well as long as you are happy for the person next to you to spray you with germs if they sneeze, fine. Or vice versa. Then of course to pass it on to your nearest and dearest?
Nothing to do with third world, germs/viruses are the same the world over and kill indiscriminately.
PhilipMarc I didn't imply that they would make me safer - just why would they be given out free? If they become mandatory then the public have had enough time to organise their own version of a face covering.
Most days when I go out for a walk I see face masks or disposable gloves dumped in the street. The outbreak has somewhat derailed the campaign to reduce single-use plastic or other types of single-use items 
I have read they will attempt to give them out for free from major stations, but I doubt there is an ample supply to do this.
The latest information is that WHO have now said that masks must be worn in all public places https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52945210 and People over 60 and those with underlying health conditions, the WHO says, should wear medical masks when social distancing cannot be achieved. Medical masks the next toilet roll crisis. Why start to open places up then tell us to cover up more they should have left us in lockdown. There may be no football but the goal posts are moving!
