Have You Purchase a Mask yet or Are You Going to Make One
Ask a Question
Do you plan on getting a face mask? If so are you going to buy one or make one yourself? If you are making one what are you going to use ?
I tried to get some black reusable face masks from Boots earlier in the week. However, I visited six stores and they were all out of stock. I ended up getting a pack of three from an adidas shop that were £2.50 cheaper than the type I wanted in Boots
We bought a pack but haven't been out other than to the local surgery & chiropractor. They both require you to wear a mask but I wore my snood (from being on the bike) to the surgery last time and they didn't complain - they couldn't really as they didn't even have masks on themselves!
That is quite bad really, would think all medics should be wearing them given that they are mixing with sick people!
Lynibis We were shocked and although we collect prescriptions through a window, if we have to wear one then so should they... One rule for all
Lynibis Some confusion here - masks should be worn (by those possibly infected) to prevent them passing on the infection, So it is the sick people who should be wearing them. Health care professionals (if screened regularly) are highly unlikely to infect their patients.
The "simple" masks people are required to wear give them very little protection - they're worn for the benefit of others.
It's my opinion that if simple masks had been mandatory from the start (especially in enclosed places) thousands of lives could have been saved.
davidstockport thanks David, you can see I am confused by all the confusing and disjointed info/advice being given
Lynibis It is confusing I know - it was supposedly one of the reasons masks were initially discouraged, too many thought it might give the wearer protection. From what I have seen many still do. It takes quite sophisticated masks to give the wearer much protection.
IMO there should be more emphasis put on enforcing the regulations, I see buses passing my home where many passengers are ignoring the rule, it isn't very fair on the drivers who it has been shown are VERY vulnerable.
I have some disposable ones but order four washable ones via Groupon yesterday. I’ve not been out for months so not worn one yet.
My partner bought us both fabric masks at the start of lockdown - he is not bargain savvy so bought them for £8 each and has now bought a third for his son so I’ve been using that because it’s compulsory most places in Scotland now
I have brought some disposable masks, however in process of trying to find someone who makes them, as guess we will be using them for a while
i got one for free by downloading the hype app and last week it came which is great as it is reusable
eyeballkerry yes. i thought that it would never come as it said 3 weeks but it came in 4 weeks
I bought a couple but they were far too hot an unbearable to wear and we've since learned that stretchy fabrics are useless anyway so I made do with a few of the blue papery options. I'm currently making a few from some cotton 'fat squares' I bought last year from Lidl.
I’ve a few reusable ones and some disposable ones. I haven’t tried to make some yet but I know a few people who have and they’ve come out well
I made mine (only worn about once a week when I shop) from the sleeve of an old shirt I was turning into dusters.
