Pyrex Alternative
Ask a Question
can anyone recommend a place to buy pyrex cheap or a cheaper alternative that would last? Ideally I want a jug or bowl 4l or bigger. I bought one from Amazon and have no confidence putting it in microwave the sides are thin and after just 2 min develops hot spots worried it will explode! TIA
Keep an eye out in Tesco as they have pyrex half price quite often. Ive had nearly all my pyrex from there
Pyrex is very cheap....sometimes TK MAXX have them...
Not sure anything is cheaper, but pyrex last for years and it can be used in microwave, oven....etc
I was once told that there is a high turnover of Pyrex in charity shops - older users get rid of them and younger people discover how good they are so it's always worth a look.
Borosilicate Glass is a really good alternative
Borosilicate glass is a type of heat resistant glass designed to withstand temperature extremes better than most other glass. Borosilicate glass is used for lab equipment, as well as for manufacturing high-quality kitchenware. Cookware made of borosilicate glass is thin, durable, safe, and convenient for cooking, baking, serving, and storing food.
