Where Do You Recommend I Visit?
Ask a Question
Just on the verge of buying a caravan. Where did you recommend I should visit in the uk? Would you recommend where you live as a great place to visit or have you had a wonderful experience somewhere else in the uk?
If you don't mind getting the boat (not sure on costs etc) I would definitely recommend a week or two for North Coast NI, then Wild Atlantic Way! Stop a few nights at various places!
Thank you for your reply. The plan is the uk first then start venturing a bit further. I like boats but unfortunately they don’t like me. But I’m still willing to travel so I will add it to my list.
eyeballkerry I am the same with boats! Enjoy getting the caravan and exploring. You will probably be surprised at how many local hidden gems there are too! We camped quite a bit this year and loved it. Although was very jealous of the caravans when it came to pitching and taking down the tents haha!
FG280 We used to have a large trailer tent and it used to take two hours to set up. With a caravan we won’t have that issue and will be able to see more places.
I second that FG280! The North Coast of Ireland and Donegal are stunning. The whole of the West coast of Ireland is worth a visit if you have the time.
I love Northumberland in the UK, and Cornwall.
Definitely Northumberland there’s lots of nice places like sea houses and bamburgh castle and holy island. Even Yorkshire and Scotland
I am open to new adventure. I particularly love walking and finding new places to explore. Enjoy going of the beaten track.
If you look at a large map of GB and find the A39 (near Padstow and Wadebridge) you will see it follows the coast up to Bideford and towards Ilfracombe then turns East toward Lynton, Lynmouth and Minehead (Exmoor) and then along toward Glastonbury, you will find some of the most spectacular scenery and panoramic views.
Years ago I drove West from Essex to Wadebridge to visit then partner's parents but coming home we took the route I have described, it was beautiful. We stayed the night at Glastonbury before continuing home next day.
Johnny you are very welcome. If memory serves as you drive to Lynmouth there are lots of babbling brooks and waterfalls either side of the road. It is a valley with lovely houses and hotels nestled in the hills. I believe there is a cable car lift. Glastonbury is of course very witchy, supposedly!
Definitely the New Forest. Beaches, foodie places for all budgets, West Quay Southampton shopping, Isle of Wight so many things to see and do you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Thanks to everyone for all there ideas, can’t wait for our adventure to begin. Maybe once I get on the road I can let you know where I go. If anyone is interested!
So many lovely places to see in the uk. Some tourist places are very busy at the moment so I’d recommend some lesser known places like Rutland Water or the Suffolk coast. Having said that, I do love the Lake District.
The Highlands of Scotland! There is so much to do here, lots of beautiful sites and plenty of caravan parks for you to use! I grew up here and just recently moved back. My mother in law had never been before and she came to visit twice in 2 weeks as she loved it that much!
He he! Coming to see you end of next week. Not sure if it is classed as The Highlands but hotel is called Highland hotel and apparently is a short walk from Fort William. Can't wait to ride on the Jacobite railway and sail on Loch Ness.
Down south,eg Dorset, has a beautiful view and is typically different from most places, theres beautiful sea views especially in summer
Most definetly the North of Scotland. We live in Scotland and still come across some beautiful wee towns and villages when we're out and about. Skype, Mallaig, Loch Lomond are all great places for starters xx
