Rescheduling the Delivery Scam
Other
Anyone else received a scam text message telling you that they (no mention exactly who) have a package pending on your name and to reschedule the delivery followed by a dodgy link? 2nd time now .. not falling for it
Yes quite a few , mine was from Hermes saying £1.45 is due . Apart from being an obvious scam you will never be asked for such a low sum . All the carriers will add on a £10 -£12 admin fee .
I’ve received a few from the likes of Dpd, Royal Mail and Hermes in the recent months. I always ignore them.
There are so many scams like this around at the moment, you have to be careful even if you are expecting a parcel.
Had about 5 texts, all from different numbers; because I block them when I receive a message. All the same message claiming to be DHL and saying to click the link to track my parcel... first message I clicked on as I was waiting for a parcel. ... I got taken to a ‘your the 1billionth person on this page, win an iPhone’ bullshit scam. Safe to say I haven’t clicked on the rest just delete delete delete.
I get this email on a regular basis, you can easily tell its a scam via the email adress they've used. I tell them im not clicking the link as they can resend the 'parcel' any day of the week and then never get a response after that.
When you think of all the tech we have these days isn't it about time they found a way to stop all these scams. With so many flying around even the most careful person could be caught out and it is so wrong.
I had the Royal Mail scam a few weeks back.
But luckily ignored it. You’ve got to keep your eyes open as some of these scams get very convincing. But some are so poor lol.
Specially when they have bad spelling mistakes. Or if it’s offering you free money but you’ve got to pay them a small free to be able to get your millions of pounds
Spelling mistakes are no real guide as to whether things are genuine or not, I have had genuine emails from banks with spelling mistakes and emails from scammers with perfect spelling. Scammers became aware, many years ago, that spelling mistakes would arouse suspicion so employed proof readers who could spot even slight errors "free for fee" is quite a common one.
davidstockport if you see the Netflix one there was so many spelling mistakes and bad grammar. That’s a huge alert when you see so many. The odd spelling mistake is different. Loads stands out like a sore thumb in my opinion.
rossruby1977 The point I am making is that people shouldn't rely too heavily on spelling to judge authenticity, those that contain numerous errors are probably scams but the absence of errors shouldnt lull people into a sense of false security.
Even some major banks have ceased warning that poor spelling indicates emails, adverts or letters are not to be trusted, I suppose banks who spell receipt as "reciept" and forty as "fourty" would feel hypocritical doing so.
davidstockport I did get your point lol, you read into my point a bit too much. It was funny that the email I got sent from Netflix. It was like it was from someone that didn’t understand English. I’m not suggesting just because there is one spelling mistake you avoid the email and it’s a scam. But when I showed my friends the email that one scammer was using. They got my point about how silly it looked. I don’t have the email anymore or I would show it to you.
rossruby1977 But those that do contain numerous and stupid errors are totally wasting their time no one is going to be taken in by them. (although that is debatable )
I read somewhere that often errors are added deliberately on the basis that those who are taken in by those emails are the type of people the scammers are looking for.
Yup get loads of emails and texts claiming to be most reputable firms wanting delivery fees. I just laugh as I haven't ordered a thing so know it's fake.
Know what would be good. If people’s banks set up details of an account ‘to use and pay’ if you were to report these texts etc but by using this to ‘pay’ the scammer and look like it was going to be paid the fraud team could work better with the details possibly... especially if they then thought they had the persons banking details... who knows. I’ll present myself to dragons den or the fraud squad
Yes, I had this a few days ago. Just a text from a random number. I wasn’t waiting for anything from Hermes so ignored it
I received the following scam delivery text recently -
Aside from looking suspicious I was only expecting one package from Amazon. Researching the link address in the text. It's been identified as one to avoid and carries the following warning - High-Risk. Phishing. Beware.
There are so many scams now it's just so annoying, I seem to be constantly reporting numbers.
Yeh iv had that before. It’s so hard to know what’s a scam and what’s not when we all order online all the time.
