Thousands of fish being dropped from plane

In the News

I was just watching this video of thousands of fish being dropped from plane to restock Utah Lakes. I would have thought that the shock of hitting the water would harm the fish

Some of these areas are so remote, you can't get there any other way

Fish can get stressed, such as from a change of habitat. Being flown and dumped can't be a pleasant experience for them. They drop hundreds of thousands this way meaning tens of thousands die in the process. They do appear to be prioritising revenue made from fishing licences rather than just severely limit the numbers of people that can fish. Looking at their website suggests they are more focused hunting and fishing over promoting the flora & fauna in the area.

I glad it's not only me, that thought this couldn't be good for fish, plus it begs the question whats wrong with their eco system that they need to restock ?

ACR that is what I was thinking. I guess in their scale of deaths they dont really find tens of thousands of deaths that big but its going to add up
