Rolls ,Baps, Barms, Muffin or Plain Teacake?

Ask a Question

For me growing up they were actually muffins...but there are actually muffins that are quite different. Auto god prediction text just rubbed out five times the word bap and wrote nap which put me in mind of the wonderful variety of names for a fluffy floury bread roll in a round shape....rolls were the finger shaped ones to me btw....

I'm well aware of them all but to my knowledge I haven't ever had a barm cake, unless it is the same thing with a different name? I love tea cakes especially if they have cinnamon in them.

TheChimp No, I haven't, I'll have to give it a try. I suppose it would be a bit like Cheese on toast with Worcestershire sauce on?

That sounds like a fruited teacake not a plain one?

Omg it's 6:31am, I've got a stinking hangover, and I've just come across this topic.

I have no clue what the question is 😐

Its a bun to me in the north east or sometimes butty. I love a bacon and mushroom bun with mayo 😋

Beat me too it. I read the title & thought: Where's bun? In our house its bun or stottie.

Always thought a butty was just a sandwich with bread , didn't know it could be a roll/ bun etc

Sarahvwomble No, North East (Newcastle) A stottie is a North Eastern thing. Its basically a large white flat bread bun.
