Royal Mail Petition
In the News
I have posted a few times on here about the pressure we are putting on the likes of Royal Mail etc ordering more than usual into out homes online during the period. I'm not looking for a discussion this time as it's been covered!
However, if you are ordering a lot and it is arriving via the Royal Mail, one easy way to support them is via signing this petition. It only takes a few seconds.
Thank you.
Whilst I have sympathy with the staff who are working under challenging conditions, it's worth noting that this petition was started over a month ago when Royal Mail was trying to find its feet.
It's essential that Royal Mail and its staff step up to the plate to ensure the UK economy runs as well as it possibly can, to protect jobs (including their own), and help to stem the tide of mass unemployment. Actually Royal Mail has already done a lot to protect staff and to provide PPE (on which the company has spent millions) and will continue to do so.
You can read more about it here:
Coronavirus: how we're protecting our staff and customers

In addition as of May 2nd the Royal Mail will temporarily no longer deliver letters on a Saturday.
Fortunately the volume of business mail and direct mail (junk mail) has seen a massive decline, whilst the number of parcel deliveries heads upwards.
Didn't see your comment on time because that thread was removed, but now this is back I guess that answers my question. Unless some comments have been removed...?
ClaireF1978 Oh yes, it's just been closed! It wasn't far off the required amount of signatures.
Hey Dennab
Just popped on and saw your other topic asking about the removal of this one. Please do send any queries about moderation decisions via the contact form - it makes sure we get them and can handle them more consistently. We'll always try and provide a reason or undo it if it was a mistake!
If a topic goes into moderation we aren't actively trying to hide the reason for it - we (I ) just haven't got around to linking up the code required to send a notification and provide a reason when a topic goes into moderation yet.
I didn't personally put this post into moderation nor have I had the opportunity to speak to the person who did. However, I can't see anything wrong with the topic itself so have put it back live
I have removed some comments - please debate/disagree/discuss (I personally enjoy reading everyone's different points of view!) but to try and keep things on topic please avoid anything personal.
Kelsey OK, apologies from me if anything I said came across as personal. The topic has personal links for me so I will tend to reply with little extra passion when somebody responds with facts that have been grabbed from the internet whilst I know what is going on first hand. It's a common issue online. Everybody's an expert.
Telling me I can read about something via a link is particularly insulting when I know several people within the Royal Mail personally.
Anyway, feel free to delete this comment once you've read it. I appreciate the 'reason for removal' is on the list! Cheers.
I think if someone feels vulnerable whether it’s posties or shop staff they should buy their own PPE and wear it with pride.
Pjran Would you say that to NHS staff? People who have to work should be provided with the conditions and equipment needed to do it safely, just like builders are provided with hard hats on building sites. I'm assuming you're a key worker yourself because as somebody lucky enough to work from home, I wouldn't dream of telling people with public facing jobs not to rely on their employer to keep them safe during this time. I'm also guessing you're definitely not a business owner because they'll know the serious implications of not looking after employees.
Pjran No, no, don't worry about me and I'm not wanting to upset you either.
While I agree we should all look after number 1, people who are keeping our services running during a time in which so many of us only have to stay at home surely deserve to feel safe in their jobs, don't they? That's all I'm saying. It's been far worse for some NHS workers of course with some actually dying as a direct result of their employer not providing adequate protection. We couldn't possibly say that was their fault for not protecting themselves.
I really do appreciate what the posties are doing atm.
They delivered my birthday cards today, which was nice, because I thought that it was a Bank Holiday. I didn't realize that they'd changed it to Friday for VE day.
Happy Birthday. You're not alone with the bank holiday confusion, not that it makes a lot of difference to most of us at the moment! I've just been working on all the bank holidays we've had in lockdown as it seems like a waste of time off I can use later in the year.
