If you banks are saying they can’t do anything you need to escalate your complaint to the financial ombudsman

They said they will get in touch with the monese bank to see if he has any fundings to return the money, but that can take up to 15 days, but they didnt mention anything about the APP fraud code or them refunding the money...

LoreeMorales they shouldn’t be requesting the money from the payee. the bank will contact monese to retrieve the funds and monese will have to accept and then do their own investigation into the payee‘s account. It’s a scammer so the funds will no longer be the payee account, they will have immediately transferred to an offshore account to avoid detection

czk123 Hey. I paid these guys using my Monese account. I have contacted Monese three times via email to get the money I've had stolen by this scam back and they've said everytime. No. It's such BS!

Email from Monese:

Turgut (Monese)

9 Apr, 10:39 BST

Thank you for contacting Monese.

Unfortunately, bank transfers cannot be recalled once they have been sent out. You will have to contact the person you made the transfer to in order to get the money back.

What can I do? I lost £204.99 thinking I was buying a Switch from them. :/

Hi all ,

I also was a victim of this fake website, I ordered yesterday a Treadmill and made a bank transfer of £290.49 it was showing reduced prize from £349.99 and good product , after I paid I did not receive any confirmation and I was thinking they must be closed for the situation we have with (Cov 19),but this morning when I checked my phone and did not receive any confirmation I straight thought something was wrong , I tried to visit their website this morning but would not find anything under that name.

I called my bank same as you guys done, hopefully banks can sort this out 🤞

The website has now been taken down - either by the scammer themselves or a third party - so atleast no one else will lose their money. Anyone who has been affected by these lowlifes, please please get in touch with your bank as soon as possible, if you haven't already. We can't let scum like this get away with it and take all our money!

I paid £204.99 for a Nintendo Switch from e-topselection. I paid the money from my Monese account into the one they asked me to. And now the site is down and it looks like they've finished their scam and f-ed off into the wind!!!

I emailed Monese to get my money back and they've refused?!

Surely that's not right???

How can I get Monese to get off their ass and do something about this?

Are they really going to sit around while we've had our money stolen by people using their bank????

You can’t recall bank transfers. No legit site asks for payment like that..

Yes you can. Research authorised push payment. The website said it accepted many forms of payment but once at checkout the only option is ‘bank wire’

My point is the same though, no legit site asks for bank transfer and you can't recall a bank transfer.

You can try to get the money back via fraud departments or similar, but you can't actually recall one link you can with cards via chargebacks.

ukheather there are a few people on the page that managed to get it recalled about 90 mins after transferring. I too didn’t think this was possible, but apparently it is if quick enough

Guys i had a horrible experience with the bank regarding e-topselection, they took £205 , i was trying to get a switch. i'm with Barclays , one woman said to me 'there's no chance you can get your money back because you authorised the payment' and never even forwarded me to the scams team/department! But, i contacted again, filed a complaint, the new person i was speaking to said what the previous woman said was completely wrong and that she can open a case for me. Gave them all the details and evidence and argued how i was not reckless and neglectful. The case is excelling to try and receive my money. plus i got a £50 compensation transferred into my account to apologise for the horrible experience. SO KEEP ON FIGHTING GUYS, MAKE SURE UR EDUCATED ON THE PUSH PAYMENT CODE , PROVE THAT U NEVER KNEW THIS WAS A SCAM, PROVE HOW THIS WAS SO BELIEVABLE AND DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK! THERE SI SOME HOPE OUT THERE!!😀

Why would anybody in their right mind order something from a website asking for bank transfer as payment?! I'm gobsmacked at how so many people can fall for it. Use PayPal if possible when buying anything online and if not (and the purchase is £100 or over), use a credit card. Just a heads up as well: if you receive an email saying your long lost Uncle in Nigeria has left you £55m as inheritance, it's not real.

Dennab in needs of desperation and stress you may fall for something u may heave been educated on or may not notice something such as a bank transfer payment being fishy.

safu While I wouldn't wish this upon any of the people who have been ripped off, let's get some perspective here. Is a Nintendo Switch something someone who is desperate (financially I assume) should be buying? Anyway, I hope others see this and learn from everybody else's mistake.

Dennab Not financially desperate, but the Nintendo switch is so hot right now and out of stock everywhere this seemed as one of the only places selling a Nintendo switch for a regular price not 6-700 pounds. Which is 3x regular retail price

safu Do you not have any old consoles knocking about? It's better than nothing. I tend to wait until these things are around 10 years old and buy them for 20 quid anyway.

Dennab well waiting 10 years for a console takes the fun out of it. The point is you have fun whilst it’s still relevant and you can play with your friends

safu Yes of course and each to their own. I just find it can get way too addictive and take up time in which I could be more productive. Life's too short. It's the same with TV to be honest and internet forums sometimes, so I'm fighting against myself here! I played Forza 4 I think at a friend's house just before the lockdown and it was good to be fair.

I am a (trainee) google webmaster and looking at all of the evidence and all of the domain information from my end, i can confirm this is indeed a scam. The website has now been suspended. If you have lost any money please contact action fraud or your bank. I am unable to answer specific questions.

Okay so i just got a letter in the mail from my bank stating they cannot reimburse me of any money as they are saying i did not do any research into the payee that i was sending money to. THE THING IS I DID HEAVY RESEARCH AND AT THE TIME THERE WAS NOT MUCH INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE , ONLY ONE SAYING IT COULD BE LEGITIMATE. They never asked me for any of my evidence and they somehow drew to that dumb conclusion. Is there any way I could challenge this

safu You say there was very little information available about a company but still decided to give them money. Please learn from your mistake.

Here's the advice you need to follow though. It's all on this page:
