Would You Do the School Run in Your Pyjamas?

Ask a Question

Is it okay to do the school run in your pyjamas?

I know of one school that added into their weekly newsletter that it wasn’t okay because of ‘the impression it gives the children’

Of course not. Whoever does the school run should be properly dressed. I remember one Mum complained to the school that she felt the Dads stared at her. She wore the smallest mini skirts with high heels and put the headmistress in a difficult situation.

It makes me laugh some are wearing pjs and some look ready for night out.

I've never gone to school in pjs but have gone with dye in hair once as hadn't realised how long it would take

I don't think it gives a good impression. It's not just school, some round here there's some regulars who pop to corner shop in pjs. It's just pure laziness imo. It takes 2 mins to put a t shirt & pants on.

Glitterandgold I was in a One Stop shop recently and a teenage girl came in, in her pyjamas with a coat over the top. I'd not actually ever seen this before in my area. However I've seen videos on youtube with people filmed in walmart with ridiculously weird clothes on in the USA.

BonzoBanana Here its usually middle aged woman, i have seen a couple teens do it too, prob learnt from their parent. I will never understand it. It just makes them look scruffy & lazy imo.

It's a disgrace and not showing a good example to their children. I see people go to the local shops in their pjs and dressing gowns. 😦

100% no, it is not ok. Why would you degrade yourself like that. If you can not get dressed properly then you are not fit to be a parent.

I wouldn't, I have to go to work afterwards and don't think my boss would approve! I wouldn't do it full stop and haven't seen anyone at my sons school do it either.

Heck no as there isn't enough money for therapy for anyone that saw me in my nightie but also it's not hard to get dressed we expect our kids to for school.

I always go in my pj’s but I am only the driver- i have my daughter and my grandkids in the car and its my daughter that gets out of the car not me. From the waist up I dont look like I am wearing my pj’s. I have physical disabilities which can make changing clothes painful and I go straight back home after.

suevernon1968 that’s perfectly understandable and ur not getting out of car. I take it ur daughter is suitably dressed to get out of car. Seems like it’s getting more acceptable to wear pyjamas out

I don’t do school run anymore but I never did it in my pyjamas and would never think of it. I’ve seen women not only do the school run in their pyjamas but do their shopping in pyjamas along with dressing gown and slippers. Theirs plenty of pyjamas and leisure wear that are more like everyday wear and that parents would get away with wearing and no one would know any better but no - parents wear the brightest, gaudiest pyjamas that should be left in bedroom 😂

chele44 there is no way I would ever get out of my car in my pj’s lol. But sitting in the car I do see quite a few parents go in wearing their pj’s - they dont even try to hide the fact by putting a proper coat on they have their dressing gowns on lol. When I was taking my own kids to school many years ago I was always dressed cos i had to go straight to work.

No, there's no way, my kids are old enough now, however it takes two mins to get dressed. I think it's not a great example for the children, the child may feel embarrassed their parent turning up in pjs 🤐

Nooo ,I wear my pj's to take my recycling out,to take my bin down on to our small road & to call my cats home, NOT for shopping or school run..

Suevernon1968,yes I can understand & I do sympathise with you & others in the same position but rest should be properly dressed, the children must be sooo embarrassed.

It isn't something I'd like to do.

I mean it would probably depend on how they looked too, if they were obviously Pyjamas then definitely not.

I could understand if someone worked odd times and had no one else to take the children to school, so woke up to take their children and then were going back to sleep when you got back, but in that case, I'd imagine they'd have a long coat on that covered them up, so others couldn't tell.

I know people that work in supermarkets and they say lots of people turn up in their PJs at any time of the day.

Certainly you could. Put a coat on over your pjs , trackies over your bottoms if you walk. If you drive, a coat on and just sit at the gates watching your kids go in and wave goodbye. Obviously I love my pyjamas.
