Self-Service Checkouts vs Cashiers
Other
I've never really liked self-service checkouts because I tend to get something wrong (wrong option, card, bag or whatever) and then an employee needs to come fix the prob. Besides, cashiers are there to do the job and they're quite handy and useful over self-service machines.
I did notice some supermarkets have a lot of empty tills but that may depend as to when more or less cashiers are needed.
Self-service checkouts aren't the future.
Looks like I'm going to break the mould here!
I love me a self-checkout. Not only do you get the fun of scanning stuff yourself (yup, I'm that sad!) but I reckon once you work out the oddities of the machines it's a lot quicker than waiting for a cashier.
Replace everything and everyone with robots!
That will be ok if they introduce a universal income but until that date I'll stick with the person with a job. Maybe its an age thing.
I love the scunning bit too but I am always the unlucky one, who blocks the queue becouse something it's not working as soon as I get to it (and with printers I am equally talented ) so I try to stay away
I tend to go for self service if I only have a few things.
But if I'm buying age restricted items (alcohol/aspirin/etc) I go to a cashier, because if you take those items through self service you have to wait for a member of staff to verify them anyway.
Also, it depends a lot on queue sizes for both options.
Love scan as you shop and self service tills. I shop on a bugget so it's great to know what I am spending and what I can treat the family and what I can't self service till are great when they work lol
If I only have a few items then I will use them, but otherwise I always go to the cashiers.
