Separate Emails for Comps & Freebies?

Ask a Question

I wondered how many people use separate emails for entering competitions and signing up to freebies etc.?

I have one main inbox really but do another email that I use occasionally for personal use. In my main inbox which is all I use for entering comps is inundated with emails everyday from the companies I sign up to! I get 100+ emails a day. What about you?

Yes I was thinking of maybe unsubscribing from all the newsletters and companies and starting a fresh email for just competitions! Then you have less chance of missing an important email x

Ann1984 She's a tough old thing, can hardly walk because of arthritis in knees and hips, COPD, colitis, hernia, diabetes and on warfarin, but says there's nothing wrong with her! Won't give up and doesn't like help so we have to sneak it in. Hope I've got her attitude and determination at 83. Other than all that we are well, fortunately up to now my area has not been badly affected. What about you? I even got loo roll, kitchen roll, tissues and soap today 🙂 🙂

AliceBell64468 my comps email is on gmail, which has a main inbox and a promotion inbox. Most of the promotional emails go in there so you don't have to scroll through all the rubbish. The couple time I won a comp the email was in the main inbox so easy to spot.

I have 2 separate email addresses. I use an email address specifically for competitions, product tests and freebies, whilst I use my main email address for other purposes such as keeping in touch with friends and family.

I think that is wise and I think I will do the same, it’s getting silly having to sift through hundreds of emails lol!

AliceBell64468 I also have a 'competition' email address then skim through and read what's important then mass delete. How is the hair and job?

lilyflower hiya hun, job is going well thank you. Very tiring though! And I’m hoping we don’t close because of all this Corona virus crap!

The hair seems to be okay too, I got some conditioner so it doesn’t feel so dry. How are things with you x

I have about seven email accounts three are in regular use. My main one is for banking and anything else that has to be very secure - I have never had spam on it, the one I'm on for here is also one for anyone to contact me directly from YouTube and some other sites, it gets a certain amount of spam, the third is where many from the past contact me, it gets a lot of spam.

Many don't realise how important it is to keep email accounts secure, just imagine what could found out from email folders if someone hacked into it. They can even use that email and receive the incoming email even deleting it etc. It happened to a friend of mine, I couldn't email to tell him because they got the emails first.

No email account is totally secure that's why banks etc, just email notifications that they've sent a secure message which can only be read if you sign into your account.

Wow seven accounts lol! Even having to check three lots I bet that takes up some time lol! But like you say alot of emails get hacked so people do need to be careful. Or even if you dont get hacked I’m sure we have all had the dodgy emails from PayPal or other companies advising to log into our accounts through dodgy fake links!

AliceBell64468 It is in my opinion easier to have several email accounts, those for not very important things only get checked perhaps once a month. The one I use that is only disclosed to banks etc. once a day. The one used mainly for YouTube notifications etc, is usually logged into when I'm not on one of the others.

I have a second account but often forget to use it. The brands I love I direct to my primary account.

Yes I have a main email account for most of my emails but I have used it to sign up to competitions so now it has become overloaded! I will probably forget to use the 2nd account also if I set it up lol x

Oh yes, I have separate emails, thank goodness! my comp email address gets spammed to high heaven everyday. I have to keep on taking out the trash and now with the virus I get nonstop emails from the CEO of companies who have to email us every few hours with updates it seems.

Lol yes I seem to have about 40 emails a day from the CEO’s on their corona virus updates. It would be nice to see something else in my inbox that isn’t about this darn virus! How is the new house xx

AliceBell64468 The house is slowly getting organised. One room is completed decorated. The garden is the very big challenge. It's massive and so overgrown in some parts and its all bramble and nettles because the countryside is at the bottom of the garden its all growing in the garden too. So much work to do in the garden. Lucky as dad's racing appears to have been cancelled due to that virus, so he's bored I think as he's done the one room already painted top to bottom. 🤣 Today he mowed part of the massive lawn. The house is great but I LOVE the garden. Not only does it have 2 apple trees, it has one pear, 2 blackcurrant bushes, a massive rhubarb plant that I've harvested from already, but it also have other bushes that I'm not sure yet if these are more berries. that's before I've started planting it in.

ShellyAnn great stuff at least one room is out the way with! Sounds like you have your work cut out with the garden but I’m sure once you get started it will soon be done before you know! Aww lovely, you could make some lovely pies & crumbles! My mom used to make apple and plum crumble with the fruit from her garden before they moved. Nice of your Dad to help also! What sort of racing does he do? Is it car racing? I used to do car racing, I raced classic mini’s! x

Yes, I have a separate email that I use just for competitions. It's a good way of filtering junk email and it also makes it easier to spot phishing scams as I don't use it for purchases or online banking.

I think most of us most do the same although I normally forget to enter my other email so end up having too many come into my primary account!
