Shouldn't We All "Personalise " Our Deals with a Precis Written by the Poster ?

Is it just me ? or am I totally turned off by deals which are just "cut and paste " ? Myself I like to see a posters description and opinion on why it is a great deal - persuade me ? I can easily click on the deal and see the retailers spiel .
Also I really do not like "I have found this awesome deal at an amazing price " - Sounds like an eBay used clothes seller ? - you know what I mean .
Just observations - Personally I only post deals that I consider great deals , and tell the membership why in my own words (granted many of my deals are Golf related and don't have a wide audience ).
If there's a good sale on I may post 4 or 5 deals a day - if I don't find any great deals I may not post any . No point in posting dross non deals just for the points ? Would members agree ?
As a general principle I’d say yes, great! If the OP has time.
It also rather depends how much experience the OP has about the product and whether or not they've ever used it themselves.
In many cases I’ve never used the products I post, but can see that they are a good deal from customer reviews, price tracking etc.
I try to get the key points over as quickly as possible using the image and the headline, as I think many users probably won’t bother to click through to my description unless the headline and/or graphic is compelling enough.
Here’s an example: 
Often I'll then add more images, customer review charts, price history charts etc. in my description if I think they'll help the user.
I think it depends on whether you actually know anything about the product or have used it before. I think that most people look at the imagine, the headline and the price and if it appeals to them then they will go to the description. I always type in a personal description as the items I post are normally ones I'm buying for myself, husband or son.
For me personally, I don't need to be persuaded as to whether it is a good deal. I am only going to buy it if it is something I needed anyway, so can tell myself if it is a good deal. I don't mind if the description is copied and pasted. The poster might not have had time to write a personalised one.
To be honest i hardly ever read the description as i can see if its something i want and a good deal from the image and price. If i need to pay that much attention to the description then im obviously looking at something i know nothing about in which case do i need it or am i buying for the sake of it. 
I see your point and agree to a certain extent but I would be more frustrated by the lack of detail in some posts. When I see a deal that appeals (clothing, shoes etc) I want to know the sizes that are available at the time of posting. I resent having to waste time going to the website and finding that there was only ever one size available out of a possible eight. The only time I would ever deviate from the web description is when I have purchased the item and believe it is of good quality/value then I might add 'this is the best price I've seen in a while'. I also prefer to add more images than text.
Yes,a couple of times I've clicked through to deal to find there's none available or only certain ones,so I've gone back to post& let folk know what I've discovered
Personally I am not willing to spend more of my precious time writing my own description of a product/deal when I will get no extra advantage from it. How do I know if the product is good or bad if I have not bought it myself and it is not my job to persuade anyone to buy a deal I have posted, surely that is down to the retailer?
Also cut and paste gives you the 'authorised' line and I would be scared of putting something wrong or not true about the product. Surely deal posters are here to pass on any good deals they have found and it is a case of buyer doing their research. I rarely post any deals that have less than a 30% discount but some people will post a mars bar with 2p off (slight exaggeration) and still get their points so I guess it's a case of well why shouldn't I?
My point is that "Cut and paste " adds nothing to the deal posted ? If I like the look of it I simply click on it and get the full details to peruse . TBH to me it is a lazy deal post that says " no idea why its a deal but gets me 100points with little effort " .
We are obviously not all experts in the various fields but surely 15 words to say why you think it is , or could be a good deal and the reason you have posted it isn't too much to ask ?
You won't get your head bitten off if members think it isn't a great deal . I suspect many of my deals aren't of interest to many (Golf , Gardening , Laptops etc ) or even great deals but at least I explain why I think they are in the post .
To be quite honest I would love criticism of my deals - how else can we judge a deal without members comments ?
If I post what I think is a great deal for a 17" Gaming Laptop (as I have a few times ) I positively yearn for members to tell me I can get better spec elsewhere or get it cheaper elsewhere - and always say so in my deal post .
I would like this site to become an informative site , not just a list of deals (and non deals !) .
Anyone can post 3 Amazon deals a day (with vastly inflated RRPs to make a dross deal appear good ) and collect their 300 points ? Is that really what members want ?
I would hazard a guess that many members post deals to get comments (positive and negative ) on the deal as they are often thinking of buying said deal and are looking for a second opinion ? That is certainly the case with me and I suspect many .
Sadly we are getting to the stage now where probably 80%+ of " deals " posted aren't really deals - and the posters know it .
May just be me but I will rarely "Like " a cut and paste deal - but will like those where the poster takes the miniscule effort (15 words ) to explain why they consider it a deal .
Am I on my own here ? Or do members really want to see a site full of "Non Deals" posted for no reason other than to gain 100 points ?
Golfforall yes you're right,its the ones who are posting them to get a 100 points for it- I'd much prefer a recommendation that's personal from someone whose genuinely pleased they've got a bargain& want to share it with us.so we can try it too.
Caz2 not sure how you can recommend something you haven't bought yourself? I am certainly not willing to buy and test something before posting, even if time allowed before deal expired. And how can I write about something I know nothing about. I make a point of never liking or posting Amazon deals but I post lots of event deals, often with 50%off but I am not going to see them all in order to recommend and they may not be everyone's cup of tea. Post your deal and let others decide if they want to take advantage, I will not push something as it is the buyers choice.
But thats the point me& Golfforall are trying to make- only post something on if you HAVE tried it or bought it yourself first-so you do know if its good or bad...well maybe not,only,but tell people more about it if you have tried it first.
Caz2 well then I may as well delete my account as I do not buy deals on here, oh sorry, once I got something I needed from Argos cheap as chips, but the description from Argos was enough for me. I would not trust the poster telling me how great it is (they will not say it is bad, which many are) as I can decide for myself. It would cause strife if someone replied and said they bought it and it was rubbish.
I don't mean to be rude but it seems you are saying that if I see a fridge freezer with 30% off I mustn't post it because I haven't tried it even though it may be just the thing for someone else looking for such a deal.
It really isn't my job to test every deal before posting and spend even more of my time. LD asks us to post deals for other folk to benefit from and they are not children so I am sure they can decide whether it suits them or not.
Lynibis fair enough if its an upcoming event you want folk to know about,but im not suggesting you go and buy something just to test it either- im on about if youve already got the 'bargain buy' or got a great online deal& you just want everyone to know& be able to partake too, like a great pair of half price boots youve found or something& want to pass the deal on
Caz2 I am going to admit defeat and concede the argument as I am afraid I feel nothing when posting deals. I admit I post for points (the contract I have entered into, of sorts, with the site) but I certainly don't post silly small items reduced from £1.10 to £1. I guess I am not wanting to feel guilty about not going the extra mile when the site does not require it of me.
Golfforall i wish id seen youre posts on laptops when my son was searching for a gaming laptop a couple of months ago- he got a good price in end on ao.com.but if we could have had a few 'pointers' or such at outset im sure he'd have saved a £100 or more maybe.& got the 'specs' he wanted without too much trawling through websites
Lynibis I'm not saying you should give a "review " just say why you consider it could be a deal . 50% off an event deal is obviously a deal . But 80% off some Amazon "Tat Chinese non jewelery " is obviously not a deal unless the deal poster knows and explains differently . 15 words makes it personal and I'm sure will get more attention than simply a "cut and paste " description which , of course, can be accessed by clicking on the deal .
Caz2 and Golfforall I am glad we can debate without unpleasantness thanks for your contributions, pretty sure I can see both sides of the coin. I am probably just too lazy to make more of an effort than what is actually required lol.
Personally I don’t think there is any harm in copying and pasting some of the information as not everyone has the time sometimes to write a big spiel about the item.
Big Spiel - 15 words ! - Not a review , not even from personal experience , just why you consider it may be worth looking at . As Caz2 has suggested 30% off a Fridge Freezer is worth looking at even if you have never owned one .
Take the same Fridge Freezer -your might say ? " Seems a good deal been looking for one for a few weeks . This one £500 with 30 % off - any members have any comments experiences with this make /model ?"
That wasn't hard was it - far more than 15 words , and hopefully you will get replies /advice in return ? which would also help fellow members .

Yes! This is a good idea,as also i had trouble finding/ posting the 'links' and 'urls' or whatever they are as im not very 'techie'- but often want to let people know of a great deal
Agreed , I'm not that tech savvy and obviously my golf deals appeal to very few - But at least I try to explain why I consider them good deals and I would love members to tell me where I could get the same thing cheaper , or better spec for the same price - And I wouldn't be the least bit offended if someone told me that ! Surely we all want that ?
Golfforall that's what i think,i wouldn't expect everyone to agree about my deal or bargain etc just because I've posted it! I agree with you it would be nice to have folk not afraid to tell us why they're so excited about the said deal/bargain & why its so good(in their opinion) that they just HAD to share it
If poeople havent the time to write a bit more about the items then they shouldnt bother pasting it at all..
That's what I mean - we don't need or want an "expert review " -just why it seems to be a good deal for the poster . Sadly that is not happening at the moment so you have to plough through pages and pages of non deals to spot the good deal .
Frankly I tend to scroll straight past the "Cut and Paste " descriptions as I know little or no effort has been put into posting the deal - Maybe its just me ?
Not got anything against "cutting and pasting" apart from it gives the impression of a "lazy post " if not accompanied by a personal opinion , as I said if you are interested you can click on the deal and get that and many other details - A brief personal spiel from the poster may tempt me to click on the deal to get the full info - a cut and paste rarely will - but hey ho 100 points in the bag .
I would rather see the deal and the correct info rather than reading someones opinion. Fact is better.
With all the thousands of people who use this site that cut and paste myself included there wouldn't be any deals apart from the one cream eggs 59p in morrisons. Etc even the mentors of this site cut and paste but may include be quick glitch.
Sometimes it just isn't necessary when you can see how much the price has dropped for example.
I more often than not Cut & Paste simply because it contains all the information about the offer necessary .
Don't really think giving personal opions on a product is necessary as others may have a different view or experience with the same item and may not agree anyway or be disappointed with an item after purchasing .
