Something Everyone Loves About Christmas But You Can't Stand?

What is something everyone else seems to loves about Christmas but you can't stand?
For me its got to be bread sauce and mulled wine.... EWWWW!
Christmas songs, same old crap that I can't stand and mince pies, I don't know how anyone can eat them
martinlufc5637 my sons have said that for nigh on 50 years but finally my daughters in law got them to try my frangipane ones and now they're asking me to make more! You can't compare home made to shop bought but I agree they can be far too sweet. I add all sorts to mine, DiSaronno, cranberries, cherries etc.
Lynibis ...Not a Mince Pies fan but LOVE anything Almond so added a tiny bit of Almond Flavouring to the one I had from Morrisons recently & it wasn't too bad..
Lynibis...Frangipanes are jokingly called FransiJAN'S in our house as they are mine, mine, mine!
I buy my partner his favourite treats & our daughter her's,they do share my FrangiJAN'S too & I share their treats ...If I like them!!
Bread sauce it's horrible, oh and cream can't stand it in any form, Xmas pudding, mulled wine, Xmas day.........it's soooooooooooooo long and boring. Nah only joking I love Christmas really I do.
I can't stand Xmas cake or pudding, but must say a lot of people I know are of a similar mind, probably 50/50.
Lynibis ,My partner, daughter & I don't eat Christmas Cake or Christmas Pudding, why waste calories on something you don't like!
I love everything about Christmas. Except the expense & the tiredness in the run up to it, but no one enjoys either of those. I don't get mint or apple sauce tho. Cranberry sauce I can except but mint especially .
Iv never had bread sauce in my life. It looks vile tho.
Glitterandgold I love sweet sauces like apple, cranberry, mango etc but I don't eat lamb so rarely have mint sauce. I'm with you on bread sauce though, can't see the point of a dish of beige blandness. I expect it's a tradition from the past when folk used up stale bread and bulked out their meagre meals. I told a story on here recently about my ex's kids who loved bread sauce with their Sunday dinner. We went to Toby carvery one time and his teen daughter loaded her plate with it only to find it was horseradish sauce, not bread sauce
Lynibis Um on the other page you were saying about being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and complaining about being given chocolate. You should be more concerned about sweet sauces which are full of sugar and mince pies.
sallylester1 I didn't say I ate them, just that I love them. I make between 6/10 dozen mince pies for friends and family every year and treat myself to one out of first batch. D2 doesn't mean nothing sweet at all and if you have read some of my previous comments on the subject you will find I lost nearly 3 stone and lowered my levels significantly, if this continues doc says I can come off meds. So, in short, I don't think a spoonful of cranberry sauce with my turkey dinner will send me on to a downward spiral.
PS I gave away the choc gift.
Christmas food baffles me.
Christmas is suppose to be one of the most wonderful times, yet a lot of people say they don't particularly like Brussel sprouts, bread sauce or Turkey, yet they stuff themselves with it at Christmas.
I don't like Mince Pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, Black Forest Gateau or anything like that either, desserts are usually lovely, but not at Christmas for me
Sad Christmas lights, those one string of lights that adorn the windows of people who cant stand xmas but dont want others to know they dont like it. They've been up since 1982 and have just enough glow your not sure if it's a reflection from the street lamp. Come on, make the effort and make us all smile
jaspa1111 I've never seen anyone do that, in all my life, and I've lived in 3 different cities. Nobody owes it to anyone else to put up decorations or make others smile, and having meagre decorations doesn't mean someone hates Christmas anyway. Anyone would think you'd invented this complaint.
I haven't tried bread sauce I do love mulled wine I don't like mint sauce buy love everything else about Christmas as soon as I wake up the Christmas music goes on
gothvixen I came here to say this too!! Glad it’s not just me that doesn’t get the appeal.
Christmas songs, there are one or two that I like; but I used to work in a warehouse in November which often played the radio over the speakers; which seemed to play Christmas music a lot.
RegComper91 the teachers at my daughter’s Primary School put on a Panto every year and it’s brilliant.
It’s definitely a lot of fun and eye opening seeing the other side to them and the adult smutty jokes are hilarious.
The 'forced' giving of presents. This is one of many reasons why my Christmases are quiet and low-key
I don't like Christmas pudding or cake, and I certainly don't like people pushing/rushing about in the shops with no manners.
The obsession with the film 'Love Actually ' ... It's not a love story it's about infidelity and betrayal mostly . There are nicer films to watch in my opinion
I love most things about Christmas, especially the food but going out for work team Christmas meals eating Christmas food in restaurants where you get less menu choice for twice the cost, squeezed into less space, twice as much noise and rushed service. More and more workplaces are having team meals in the new year which seems the way to go...
Bread sauce is rough. Don't know anyone who likes it. Mulled wine is wrong as well. Same as pims. I hate Xmas cake and Xmas pudding. I make mince pies but hate them so make them for the family as they like them
Christmas because I have never celebrated it due to religion, but I had decided to give up my religion, so this is the first time it is hard, but I have lots of support
Gifts! I love buying and wrapping them up and giving but have anxiety receiving them. Not sure why. Always been the same.
I can't remember ever having Bread sauce and have no knowledge of what it tastes like. Hate Mulled wine in fact don't even like regular wine. Panettone bread is really rubbish for its price. Ferrero Rocher is all packaging and hardly any product and Lindt chocolate is like bland plastic chocolate or at least the plain type is. So many cosmetic food products at Christmas that get given and add to huge packaging waste. I guess that is one annoyance of Christmas is all the cosmetic confectionary. I was also going to say carol singers but haven't really had those in recent years.
Christmas songs being played everywhere. Being held to buying everyone presents - when two weeks later they are all cheaper in the sales
Crackers! The joke is usually cringe worthy, paper hats no one want to wear but feel obliged.
