It seems that all Amazon orders have a standard 1st of May delivery.

yes, but if u need a mask because it is advised it should be essential. Or u need to make it, but i have no sewing machine and with hand will take hours...

AgnesFaludi I think 1st of May is now a standard delivery limit date, but orders will be delivered before that in most cases. I think that this change is to provide security for Amazon, since in the current scenario, it is impossible to predict stock and delivery of products within the periods prior to the pandemic.

I discussed this with friends when they said we didn't need them but our common sense told us that sneezing or coughing into a mask was far safer than into the air, your hand, or crook of elbow, which allows microbes to spread everywhere. I would go further and say burn masks and tissues in the garden if you possibly can.

I downloaded a pattern to make some a couple of weeks ago but still sitting here looking at it. I wonder how efficient would they be without the filters?

If we need filters than it is more scary than we know

I don't think we were told we didn't need masks we were told they didn't give us protection and those available should be left available for health workers who had a greater need for them, to protect their patients,

One of the concerns still is that people wearing masks will feel protected when in fact they give minimal protection to the wearer, although they might reduce the chance of anyone infected passing on the infection to others.

the masks are good to ensure people don't sneeze or cough into the atmosphere, and people in asia are used to wearing them, so they are readily available, not so much over here

They're good for the people infected not spreading it so easily, but others wearing them won't be protected from getting it.

Trump has suggested that everyone in the US should wear them when going out.

Trump! Is that the same idiot as the one who just a few weeks ago was calling the pandemic a Democrat Hoax? If it is he's now saying that he won't wear a mask.

We only get told what they want us to know, and most likely they don’t have a clue half the time. It’s never been popular to wear masks previously, so I know it’ll be a culture change to get use to...if you can get one at a decent price

Maybe we should all wear burkas when we visit the supermarket, then wash when we get home.

If wearing masks was made compulsory the extra demand for them 'could put NHS supplies at risk'. I haven't worn a mask during the lockdown. I can see why people would want to wear them when they are in a supermarket, at work or traveling on public transport, but you don't really need them if you are just going for a walk on virtually empty streets - unless you have a serious underlying medical condition - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52363378
