More woeful news. Again, this is not somewhere I ever go to spend my money, so I’m not surprised
Seen a few about on my travels but not ever gone in one. You would of thought such a high margin business could survive. Certainly not a business fail that you can blame on the internet and Amazon except I guess if you aren't visiting the high street then you are less likely to pop into a supercuts. Lots of hair dressers away from town centres where you don't have to pay parking charges though. Supercut prices have to factor in high rents and end customers have to factor in supercut prices and parking costs when comparing to other hairdressers. At least all involved have a transferable skill. Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to be remember many hairdressers pay for apprentices to train and then have a contract to keep them for a minimum amount of time before they can go elsewhere maybe 2 years. Maybe those within that two years contract it could be beneficial financially as they will get higher wages elsewhere and not have to pay those training fees as supercuts have broken the contract by ceasing trading.
When a hairdresser charge 50+ pounds to do my hair and that is just the cut and blow dry, nothing extra. And it was done in an hour. Compare to my pay, they earn 5+ times more. Also the materials cost less for them than what we pay in Superdrug or Boots. The pricing makes no sense for me.
I guess you also need to take into account business rent/rates, wages, heating, electricity, water rates, maintenance, possible loan repayments for start up equipment etc. It is no wonder businesses close down.
We have masses of empty shops in our town, some never used, but greedy council seem to prefer no money to reducing the rent/rates. Where is the sense in that? They should give first three months free, next nine months half price, and only when well established charge full rate.

Also other businesses pay the same fees and can make money.
I agree new businesses should be protected and they should get help. Also each council should encourage them to stay in place and not move out. Maybe give them a reduced tax option.
never used them, even though there seems to be one in most town centres and high streets. Like with most chains, there are probably too many for them to cope
