Surge of People Going out on April 12th??? Huge Mistake by the Government???

In the News

Do you guys think that after 12th of April, a lot of people will not be social distancing and could ruin our efforts to maintain low rates of Covid 19? Please share your thoughts....😊

At some point we have to get back to normal whether it's 12th April or another date in the future. Schools are going back anyway .

With regards to social distancing I don't think the vaccine roll out has helped with this as I now see a lot of the older generation shopping in groups and stood in groups in shops talking without socially distancing which didn't seem the case a few months back .

It's a good thing they're going out. Old folks (70 ~ 90) don't have much lifespan left so they've got to enjoy what's left.

Being under house arrest will just slowly kill them even more.

Yeah I have noticed that when I go to the bank for work. The social distance seems to be getting smaller and its a lot of the older generation who properly have had the vaccination and don't care about anyone else.

True... at some point we do have to get back to normal.... I totally agree but I think that the government should give certain days within the month in which particular businesses are allocated to reopening based upon a need in society for them businesses. But thanks for sharing your thoughts anyways...😊

The government doesn't dictate our freedom, it's not theirs to take or give. However, the majority have submitted and will do as told.

I think there’ll be loads out. Purely personally but I’m going to wait a week or so for the novelty to wear off and to get a feel for what’s busy. I still haven’t had a vaccine so am wary of crowds still

I've had 1st vacation there are crowds out already not socially distancing. I'm planning on waiting a couple of weeks to get haircuts till not so busy. My family is very important to me I'm going to do all I can to keep them safe

Same here, me and my family will probably wait a few weeks for the crowds to die down and then we'll probably go out to shops etc.

There always be a minority who will basically do as what pleases them...so yes, I think there is a risk.

Sadly there will be a third wave as many people think its all over and will act like brainless idiots 😒. Has anyone noticed that virtually every country in the world is experiencing a third wave ?

Young adults (statistically the main spreaders ) will not have been vaccinated until July /August so the virus will still be very much alive and kicking and in a street near you !

The calculation is that under 40s are far less likely to die or be hospitalised through catching the virus and the majority of older people (more likely to be hospitalised or die ) will be vaccinated .

I hope I'm wrong but I fear we will never reach the "near normal " projected for June . Unless society as a whole surprises me and realises that we must approach "normal" life with extreme caution .

I get the "freedom " argument but how big a price are we as a democratic society willing to pay for that freedom ? Any worse than January and we'll run out of Hospital beds , Nurses , Doctors and Carers not to mention Key workers .

Some people not even had a covid injection yet. Makes you think how many people told lies to get jab early I'm still waiting for the first covid injection.

SilverSurfer The vaccine hasn't been sold in this country and even the Prime Minister, The Queen and her family had to wait their turn.

davidstockport You really don't think that people have been able to get the vaccine through money or influence?

SilverSurfer I actually think the administration of the vaccine has been carried out more fairly in this country than anywhere else. There've been a few who've cheated the system but there is absolutely no evidence that wealth or position got anyone the jab ahead of others.

davidstockport You wont find much evidence but it is happening, I know one of my bosses and his wife have jumped the queue but sadly I'm nowhere near wealthy enough.

We are 26th I think in Scotland. I have not had the vaccine yet but will be venturing out when the time comes but with caution and maybe a week or so after

If you think about it they have got to let everyone out at some point and whenever that is there is bound to be a surge of cases be it a big surge or a smaller one.

The older generation and people who are ill may not have much time left and are probably suffering from being isolated, as well as others who live alone, it can be a very solitary life when you can't mix.

I think it is a good thing. Everyone can make their own choices about where to go and when thereby limiting their own exposure. Let's face it vaccinated people can also get the virus and we can't be kept in forever while the country goes down the pan.

I won’t be going anywhere near non essential shops until things calm down but hopefully there will be less people out walking. It has been lovely to meet up with family outside but it will be even better when I can see my son who lives too far away to meet outside. The vaccines will help and the testing kits will enable us to be a bit safer if we have visitors. We are lucky to have had the vaccine.

We have to be back to normal life. Those who are scared need to stay at home longer. This virus will not be gone so soon, can't stay isolate in 4 walls all the time. People already have lots of mental health problems, and will get more. I would be out,but I have some planed work done in my house, so earliest on the weekend I will go for shopping.

Yes I do think there will be a surge but there has to be a point when we can start to have some normality and a huge mistake by the government, why not add another to the collection.

Golfforall Quite correct the mistake hasn't been by the government but will be made by those who somehow think that because a thing becomes permissable it's COMPULSORY.

13 months and finally it got into our home . 99/100 times my wife would then be stressing but we have had part 1 of the vaccine . Because of that my wife is much more laid back and when thinking of the 12th of april I do worry about where we are heading but I am now slightly in the camp of because of the roll out of the vaccine we are as close to normal life as we can be with living with virus. With that in mind I do think we are maybe getting closer to normalcy .

However if numbers at hospitals start rising and even worse deaths then the proverbial brake needs to be slammed on . We made the mistake of last year of switching then from health to wealth and while I agree we do need to keep the country moving its gonna run itself into the ground and we will be reliving Groundhog day again and again .

Lots of people haven't been social distancing during lockdown. I expect many more won't be doing it next week.
