What Sweets or Food Takes You Back to When You Were a Kid?
Ask a Question
Someone just posted an offer about black jacks and it took me straight back to being a kid, pineapple cubes are another one. Funny, I never buy sweets now, just chocolate. Do you have anything which reminds you of being a kid?
Drumstick lollies. I used to buy them from my local newsagent at the weekends. Haven't had one in years, I'm not such a fan of sweets these days, I prefer savoury foods and snacks.
I had a black jack the other day yummy I used to love choc o lick as a kid can't seem to get it now
I had never heard of chocolick so I did a search to see what they were & they sell it at Amazon.
Wow too many childhood sweets 2 mention midget gems fizzy cola bottles sugar dummies floral gums & cherry lips haribo giant strawberry’s popin candy liquorice to this day ?!
Fried bread. Mum used to fry a slice and I'd have it for breakfast with ketchup. Not sure why. Maybe because electric toasters weren't so common back then and it took longer under the grill!
beccatavender whip a egg in Jug and just dip the bread in and fry tastes just like a omelette
Freddo chocolate bars - back when they were 10p.
Cadbury's Dream - the new Cadbury's white chocolate just isn't the same.
Turkey Twizzlers - who doesn't love Turkey Twizzlers?
Choc ices - we always had some of these in our freezer during the summer.
The little packs of Frosties sweets, not the cereal lol. They were roughly 10p a roll, not sure if they still do them.
I never heard of them so did a search https://www.treasureislandsweets.co.uk/old-fashioned-sweets-no-longer-available/frosties.html pack of 6 is £1.50
I sometimes still buy black jacks from home bargains. I miss toffos. I loved them. Also candy necklaces, you could cause a lot of mayhem with a candy necklace/watch
hubba Bubba, is that still a thing and those campino strawberry and cream sweets, pear drops, 10p Freddo’s...
Milk bottles and cider lollies were two of my main favourites, of course there was also spangles, flying saucers, sherbet lemons, sugar mice and Scottish Tablet.
Skittles, anyone remember the ‘taste of the rainbow’ advert. Tonnes of skittles in the barrel, you wanted to eat them all?!
We used to buy 8 chews for a penny when I was small, they were all I could afford but they were lovely.
