The Taliban Plans to Ban Drugs in Afghanistan

The taliban are back in power more or less with the withdrawal of US and Uk troops in hand
The repercussions of this is they are out of control and committing more atrocities every day
I cannot believe i am saying this but one positive thing they have tried to do and will try again is to ban drug production and people taking them
The article says it didnt work before and wont work again, as the country depends on the revenue from drugs like heroin and opium and its the only income for its' people
The article also says further proof it wont work in afghanistan is that it also failed in columbia , and production shifted to peru , so this would happen in afghanistan also
To me its a sad state of affairs when a country like this is allowed to produce these drugs that are killing people in the UK and the rest of the world , and is almost sanctioned by most world governments
I can never see drugs and its addictions ending, especially when you read this type of thing
When our troops went there one of the objectives of the mission was to destroy the drugs trade.
As you can see G its an impossibility , if the country and its' people depend on drugs to keep its' economy going and for 'employment' , it will never end
Even the atrocious taliban cannot stop it
US troops originally only went over to avenge 911 and UK troops just followed
I can't see them stopping the production of drugs there, that was all part of their propaganda presentation but I don't think many people believe it especially if its one of their few sources of international currency. Also in the muslim faith it is suggested to lie to your enemies. No big deal to them to try to manipulate us. We have since heard of many atrocities against people as was expected.
We just need to disconnect from such cultures, I don't mean islam in general but those areas of the world where they have extreme religious views and no democracy and little human rights. If we accept we cannot police the world then we have to fallback to a position where we simply cannot accept their treatment of people and not deal with them at all. You cannot reason with them or pressurize them to change their viewpoint but that doesn't mean we should accept in anyway what they do. The international community needs to disconnect completely from that region. No aid, no travel, nothing at all. Just let them get on with it and ignore them until there is a change of culture which admittedly may never happen.

If the drug situation was not as it is i would agree , let them get on with it
But they are flooding the world with this, and a good proportion reaches the UK
I dont know what the answer to this is , i dont think anyone does
telmel If transport links were severely cut back that would mean it would be much harder for the drugs to be transported to other countries and one benefit to that is its a landlocked country which helps in that regard. Satellite imagery means border activity can be monitored if its a low level amount of crossings. I just feel that approach over the long term could reap benefits to the rest of the world.
BonzoBanana True B, but i get the impression nobody is interested in stopping the drugs trade there , i am sure there are some behind the scenes politics involved in all of this and someone somewhere is making a lot of money out of the situation
