Tastes Changing

Ask a Question

Just my wonderment of the day... I’m not talking taste in food changing, but taste in perfume.. I’ve got quite a few different perfumes, but ones that I remember loving a couple of years ago and thought they were very “me”, i feel like they no longer suit me and I’m not keen on them anymore.. I don’t think I’ve changed that much in the past few years but apparently my taste in fragrance has! I know some people have one perfume for most of their life that they love!

Anyone else found this??

I believe our metabolism and body chemistry changes over a number of years so the people who continue to wear the same fragrance don't realise that it no longer smells the same way on them. I have had a squirt of a once favoured fragrance recently and it smelled more like cat's 'water' (mustn't forget the censors 😉 ) than anything I enjoyed. That could also be something to do with my nose. I also think that there have been quite a few new fragrances in the last ten years that have been different from everything that gone before so I would hate to miss out because wearing a fragrance that you like makes you feel good.

Yeah, I agree with you because I have also found out that I don't like the fragrance that I used to like years ago. Another thing is that companies change the ingredients so it's not always completely the same as it may have been.

I did find the same thing, i used to wear a perfume every day in my 20s, then moved on but i went to buy it again recently and sorayed it on my arm at the shop and i thought it smelled awful...

I change my perfume all the time but I no longer wear the same one that I did in my late teens/early 20s. Not because I no longer like it, I just have lots of perfume to get through so haven't bought any in years.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! Thought it was really strange because I’ve never found that before, only recently I’ve felt like the perfumes I used to love don’t suit me anymore.. I know perfumes smell different on different people but I thought they would always stay the same on the one person...
