Do You Think Face Mask Are to Expensive , Just about Right or to Cheap

Ask a Question

Do you think face mask/coverings are too expensive, just about right, or too cheap?

And how long do you think we will have to wear them in stores and shops?

I think like most things it depends where you buy them. I know my husband has paid a premium for Step Toe & Son ones, my son prefers the disposable ones, which I bought from Amazon after seeing a deal on this site. One good thing is that they are now easy to get hold of. I hope we don't have to wear them for ever hopefully just for the next 6 months or so.

You can pick your own price if you shop around . You pay for what you get or overpay if you want to get a "fashion item " , then you pay for the brand name as in other things .

How long will we be wearing them ? The scientists reckon we'll need to wear them until 90% of the population have either had the virus or had the vaccination (herd immunity ) , so probably until next summer if one or all of the vaccines work .

But then we don't know yet how long the immunity will last so its still up in the air ,

I think it could be the new normal to continue to wear them in shops , public transport and crowded spaces rather like in many Asian cities (although that is often as a smog filter ).

Just refuse to wear one , it doesn't seem to make any difference to the amount of people shown as positive

That could be because they're infected by people who refuse to wear masks I'd like to see the reaction of those who go around endangering the lives of others by not wearing masks, where they're mandatory, if the law was enforced properly and they were all hit with the £200 fine.

People who don't wear masks aren't brave - they're selfish! They'll accept the protection given to them by mask wearers - but won't return the favour.

davidstockport It's all a government ploy to see how people react to being told what they must and musn't do , it's part of the vaccine operation that Bill Gates instructed should happen in April 15 , I never wear a mask or wash my hands and as far as I know I'm not dead and haven't killed anyone , I've taken the " test " anonymously , and am NeGaTiVe

mrgoggll If you go near others who are also ignoring the mask rules, you have much less chance of remaining negative. And if you do become positive you will be spreading it, perhaps not even aware that you are doing so. IGNORANCE has already killed thousands.

You obviously have absolutely no idea how viruses spread. Masks will not completely stop the spread of the virus but will slow down its progress.

mrgoggll I'll leave the worrying to you if you become infected or if they have a clamp down and fine those who think they know better than the experts and fine them £200 first time then doubling up each time to a maximum of £6,400. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own#:~:text=The%20police%20can%20take%20measures,value%20of%20%C2%A36400.

mrgoggll I can't judge by comments whether people are short of the money to pay fines (most of which can result in a jail sentence if not paid) I can however guess what some people are short of.

mrgoggll I think hanging would be more appropriate for those deliberately endangering the lives of others.😀 The police are allowed to shoot them (dead) in The Philippines, it saves a lot of hassle and appears to have saved thousands of lives.

mrgoggll That's just not true - but I think ANARCHISTS who flout laws which then endangers the lives of others should be dealt with more severely. As it is in this country most aren't even fined.

It's the COVIDiots - who I hope avoid me. (and everyone else).

They can be all of the above. Some places charge ridiculous amounts. Otherwise, the moment they became mainstream, the prices you get them in the supermarkets seem reasonable

I think it depends where you get them from, I got a pack of three Adidas masks of their website for £15 which I thought was reasonable 🙂

I think they should be as cheap as possible as they are now an essential piece of equipment. I'll bet no-one ever expected to be giving/receiving masks as christmas presents?!

I hate wearing it so if I have to wear it, I'll just go with what I have around.

I suppose if you want to make a fashion statement with your mask, you may be prepared to pay a lot of money. I started off buying disposable masks, but now have decent quality washable masks as they are more cost effective and better for the environment. They have been reasonably priced.

i think it depends. i think the disposable ones are cheap to find in bulk buy, the fabric ones can be a bit expensive. b&m and home bargains are cheap for the disposable ones

They should be free if they want us to wear them, mind you, so should condoms and sanitary items

Far too expensive in most places - people are taking advantage of the fact they are compulsory and especially when lockdown first started and it was hard to get them..

I can't believe the silly prices some people will pay for masks, they're easily made out of old clothing - it's not rocket science.
