Do you think football fans will ever go back
Do you think it will be full and fun like it used to be.. I don't think so with these masks
Yes ,of course we'll be back . Non League Club fans already are .
First we have to get control over the virus , a task not made any easier by the irresponsible , idiotic flaunting of the rules by our younger generation . Don't need to add even a few thousand fans to that moronic mob !
Once the current surge in the virus has been contained ( March / April ? ) I can see a gradual return starting .
There is no problem inside stadia . most have already drawn up plans for 30% - 40% capacity with social distancing once the current restrictions ease .
The problem comes with getting to /from the stadia . Even 20,000 extra people in a small area ( in pubs , cafes , stations etc ) isn't going to happen until we get a vaccine .
I can see fans back with reduced capacities . Will mean staggered entering and leaving the ground and all pubs and cafes in the local areas being closed , for say, 4hours before and after the match .
First we have to stick by the rules and get the infection rate down so the current restrictions can be eased . Hopefully by March /April .
We will have our National Game back but I fear not as we remember it until next season by which time we will hopefully have a vaccination against the virus .
To be honest, I can't see football fans going back to live games. The main issue is public confidence, and on the flip side Government confidence that moving football fans around and permitting crowds will not cause spikes in virus. Another issue is that this year, people will have got used to watching football on TV. People might appreciate that you can watch the game while staying warm and without any risk of football violence from a small number of people or overpaying for food. Because of these things and the power of getting used to something, I think only the most die-hard of fans will go back to live matches. Anyone else?
At some point I think they will be but a few issues to resolve. We need to get the virus under control but too many people of all generations are causing problems and making the virus spread. One issue with opening up stadiums is alcohol, we all know that alcohol makes social distance out the window and far too many fans want to go to pubs before the game. Next issue is season ticket holders and fairness regarding reduced capacity, how do they make the calibre of games fair among the fans?
Yes the problem isn't with the stadia , they are outdoors in the viewing area . Stadia are also designed to "service " thousands of fans and can cope with 30% capacity when we have control of the virus .
Its the Pubs , Cafes ,stations around the stadia that aren't designed for thousands of fans .
That's why I feel they will be closed on match days and leaving the stadia will be staggered to avoid too much mingling .
Golfforall But people will just drink in peoples houses, far too many people seem to think alcohol and pubs are life. Also how do they deal with the selection of matches with a 30% capacity?
Getsome I think they'll just be happy to get some fans in . Selection of matches won't be a problem , for instance Liverpool and Everton , Man Utd and Man City , Spurs and Arsenal never play home matches on the same day as the police and emergency services have never been able to provide sufficient cover .
But it won't happen for a few months yet until we get control of the spread of the virus.
Golfforall Selection of matches will be a problem for season ticket holders, look at previous seasons and certain games have more attendance than others because who they are playing. They are already causing uproar with the greedy £15 for 6 matches crap.
Getsome Its always been so . Different pricing tiers for different matches , supply and demand . Most of the Premier League have 3 year waiting lists for a season ticket . Don't know where you got the £15 for 6 matches from ?
Golfforall The stupid PPV they have introduced staring this weekend. My point with season ticket holders is we have season tickets with a guaranteed seat for all games so get to pick and choose which games we want to go to but with reduced capacity how would it work? Do i get to see us play the all or half or a third of the top 6?
Getsome Oh ,Sky ! I thought they had proposed £15 per match !!! ,have taken no interest since as I would never pay that .
Season tickets is an interesting one . Clubs will just have to come up with something . I think a typical spread for a Premier team is 70% season tickets , 15% for away fans and 15% General sales . Not going to add up is it .
Golfforall Yeah so 70% of the stadium will want to see nufc v Liverpool or man city and only 1/3 capacity. It just wouldn't work.
Getsome As I said it isn't going to add up , but they would rather have 20000 than 0 ! I guess they'll have to let season ticket holders into 1 in 3 matches and refund accordingly .
Definitely people love football and group mentality means some would be back now if allowed
I do not see why it is worst than going to cinema...lots of the football games are in open stadiums, they should be safer.
Its not a problem at the stadia . Its when up to 60,000 fans spill out into the locality after the match all at the same time . I don't think there are many cinemas that hold 60,000 .
