Tips to Help Loose Weight
Other
im spending a fortune buying food per week and really struggle to loose weight i dont have the money to join a slimming club so want to do it at home some way. what are your tips to help you do it many thanks
I started on January 1st and I’ve lost 10lbs so far. I use a calorie counter app, pretty much gave up cheese and all junk food, haven’t drank any alcohol and exercise 3 times a week. It is simple in my opinion, move more and eat less - ive been sticking to 1200 calories a day, but I’m upping it to 1450 now as I’ve been losing it a bit quicker than I meant to (I’m losing weight for my wedding in June so I don’t want to put it all back on again before then!). I budget £25 a week for all my food and have stuck to it every week.
Most of it is diet but it shouldn't be expensive, what sort of eating plan are you looking at? 15 minutes of vigorous exercise a day is a good way to start losing weight, if you look on youtube you'll see workouts and reps.
I've lost about 2.5kg since the beginning of the year but have a lot to loose and to be honest haven't really put much effort into it so far.
I've just had a load of treats today.
The main thing I do is try to fast to until 4pm or later I find I feel much better this way. As ever you should avoid combining fats and sugars in the same meal, that's pretty much the recipe for weight gain and pretty much what milk is which is how our bodies can grow rapidly as infants.
I struggle with weight loss as I'm not great for controlling portion sizes but I'm good at not eating that often and doing exercise. My main weaknesses are a sweet tooth and a love of bread.
Oh i was doing this as i am never really hungry early in the day, as ive to lose a stone or more before a knee replacement op, but the nurse & consultant said doing this is wrong,as the body goes into starvation mode, and floods you with glucose,so you put more weight on!
I'm a great fan of the keto diet and intermittent fasting. I was doing very well on it and feeling better than I had for years. Listen to a man called Dr eric berg.
Yeah I watch many of Dr Berg's videos on youtube, lots of great advice although there is such conflicting information out there, many push a high carb, low fat diet and keto pushes fat and low carbs. Processed sugar is the real poison to health I think but I still love it.
I also discovered you shouldnt follow a keto diet if youre on warfarin, which is a shame as it sounded as though it would be ok for me otherwise!
im on adiet via my doctors they can sign u up to a gym for 3 months free to you or a slimming club also some give u free exercise stuff however dont go mad calorie counting its never easy to lose weight
Yes i learned you should ALWAYS consult your GP beforehand if youre on any kind of medication if youre planning a diet and/ or exercise regime, and if possible ask for a referral to a dietician.
I would say eat more fruits and vegetables but buy them from a nearby market. If you are in Londom there are a lot of markets selling lots of fruits and vegetables for £1 a bowl. Also, eat let fats food and less sugary sweets, snacks and drinks. Walk more and drink lots of water.
I think people give up too easily because they take on too much at once! Why don’t you slowly start by upping your fruit & veggie intake and then perhaps try and remove some of the bad stuff gradually? good luck!
Eat before you go shopping and only buy food for meals. keep busy. When your busy and doing something you are less likely to eat than if you are just sat watching tv. Plus if you keep busy it goes towards exercise helping you lose weight.
Only put healthy stuff into your basket and treats occasionally. This way you feel good and don't deprive yourself of your fav items. Stick to eating at the table or when you can enjoy the meal (i.e not at the computer desk, and not snacking) and eat until you are full. Listen to your gut. Eat only when your body hints it needs to eat and not when you are stressed out or not hungry. (healthy and junk snacks treats are okay just not a habit). I don't like snacking. Try and keep a routine.
You can follow slimming world at home. Its quite an easy plan to follow and all the information can be found using google. I lost 3 stone last year, ive put on a stone since October but am in the process of getting back on plan
Not sure why the food is costing so much to lose weight, as the point of it is to have less of everything, so it should be cheaper. Just stick to the basics, and you’ll be fine. A lot of veg is on offer at the mo
I log my calories on My fitness Pal. I weigh out the food and try to increase my protein in take. I enjoy the gym but don't manage it as often as i used to but i walk instead of taking the car when possible and make sure i hit my 10,000 steps.
My fitness pal to track your calories. Do a BMR to calculate how many calories you burn roughly. Try and increase your steps. Protein and fibre keeps you full. No need for any fancy diet but groups might help with motivation. Just remember you are already enough ashes your probably doing better than you think
some docs can refer u to slimming clubs for free if it helps im also on diet and understand your worries
My son in law gave me a good tip- "If there's red on the label, it doesn't go on the table!"- i don't know where he got that from, but its easy to remember! (And he successfully lost 4stone with eating right& cycling)
