Have You Tips for Woodchip Removal! Has Anyone Used an Orbital Scorer?

Ask a Question

I've delegated myself as decorator and the new place won't be easy. Loads of woodchip that's damaged so it all needs to be removed. I did the usual Googling and these orbital gadgets popped up but they're not that cheap and if they're a waste of money then I'll have to stick either scratching with a wire brush before soaking with soapy water. I'm hoping someone on here has some positive experiences that'll help....please?????

Try a wallpaper steamer. Worked for us but be prepared for smells. It even works on artex but took a while.

It's nightmare to remove, so a lot of time and patience is needed.

Try scoring the paper with a Stanley knife and then spraying it liberally with a solution of warm water and fairy liquid (or you can buy a wallpaper remover solution ) to soften the paste behind, after leaving to soak for a while scrape it off.

Mango4 and gerrykelly25 ...ta .... I'm glad I held off ordering a scratcher as my brother appeared with a steamer so I'll give that a go first. I did just order some HG WALLPAPER remover from Ebay-half the price of Amazon .... and plastic scrapers to try and avoid hacking at the plaster ...less than a tenner for the both. I normally just try to do everything cost free but there's too much to tackle so am trying to make it easier if I can.

BORDERJOE that’s a good result. It will work, it’s just laborious!

I don’t envy you! We had to remove it from every room in our first house. I don’t know about the orbital scorer, but if you get positive feedback, maybe you could hire one rather than buying it? Good luck.

We used a wallpaper steamer but some of the plaster fell off so we had to get it replastered in places.

beccatavender ... thanks ...I've done more Googling and found warnings of that so it's interesting you said too. Not started yet ....I keep putting it off! ... my excuse is I' waiting for the delivery of the scrapers.
