What Topics Do People Want to See

Ask a Question

There is a lot of complaint on here about what some people are posting as chat topics but what do people want to see as chat topics then. everyone seems to be posting similar stuff so instead of complaining maybe we need suggestions.

It is not hard to see the difference, and the ones that get most interest, so looking at the ones posted should answer your question. Plus those complaining have already stated the ones they don't like.

If someone posts 'baked beans v. Butter beans' it requires a one word answer and does not exactly encourage chat nor does it take into account all the other types of beans. Lots of people seem to be misunderstanding the whole topic which basically boils down to many members posting inane topics which they are really not interested in the replies, merely to gain points. It lowers the tone and enjoyment for everyone.

I enjoy engaging in chat but is anyone really interested in whether I prefer butter to marg ? Probably not.

If time permits I will chat about more or less anything 😊

I quite like a good debate. But it has to be an intelligent conversation. Hate the ones where you state an opinion and everyone bites your head off. People behind a screen think it's easy to be mean.

Same here - I scroll on when it gets personal or mean. There have been times where grammar and spelling have been picked on - that's just cruel and it says more about the perpetrator than the victim.

angemski Strange but this is one site I don't recall seeing any "Grammar Police" on - perhaps I've not been following any topics they've been on. Thinking about it... I probably do ignore some topics where the wording of the title suggests things might be that way.

davidstockport It's been on the group pages and tbf I haven't seen it throughout the chat. I've been commenting on posts and, in the blink of an eye, someone will have a dig at someone's ability and that's when I exit. Simply no need for it.

angemski I must admit I am a stickler for grammar and spelling, hate seeing the English language used incorrectly. I missed my vocation I think, I should have been an English teacher, but I wouldn't be mean to others even though I often feel the urge to correct.

I used to correct my granddaughter's English school work constantly and she would always ask me grammar questions. We began playing scrabble together before she even started school. It paid off as she now has her BA with honours, Masters with distinction and currently doing her Phd.

I hate hearing TV presenters and guests saying everythink instead of everything! You would be surprised how many people say you and I instead of you and me or vice versa.

The topics I like to see are topics that are obviously not topics only posted to grab points.

Those such as asking a good place for a tailored suit - where the location of the person supposedly wanting a tailored suit are not indicated are at the best "pointless".

If I want a tailored suit I go to a "TAILOR" who can measure me accurately. Any tailored suit sold online (unless second hand) is very unlikely to have ever had any attention from a "tailor".
