Trapped S. Korean Miners Rescued after 9 Days Survived on Instant Coffee Powder

In the News

Its amazing what you will eat to survive

I would never have thought instant coffee would help keep these two miners alive, but combined with dripping water from the ceiling they lasted nine days until rescued

I suppose it was the caffeine that kept them awake and alert , unless it was decaffeinated ?

I'm hoping I would never be in a situation like that but would try anything I guess after a few days. If coffee helped then that's good

telmel oh agree with that. I like the taste of coffee and tea but would never have really considered it to be something that would save my life. But if that's all I had in that situation I would try it along with lots of other bits to survive. Won't be convinced it will help but would give it a go.

Survival without food would not be my strongpoint. I'm a guzzler and a gannet. Well done to them.

Man, that's like a laxative for me so I'd have to rely on water alone.

Good for them, though.
