Uses for Vinegar

Other

I’ve heard there hundreds if not thousands of uses for vinegar (other than on your fish and chips ,LOL) .

here are a few I know of

  1. KILLING WEEDS just spray distilled white vinegar on the weeds . Also keep some handy to get rid of ants if your having a picnic
  2. OPEN JARS pour warm vinegar around the neck of stubborn jars (have jar upside down) then it should easily open .

NOW ITS YOUR TURN TO SHARE YOUR USES FOR VINEGAR . Also let me know if you try any of the ones I’ve mentioned and how they helped (if they did )

I remember my mum using it to clean the windows, vinegar and newspapers.

Vinegar is a natural antiseptic so can be used to wipe surfaces down

There are many health benefits (I read about it few months ago) . They say it can help diabetes (add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to glass of water and drink ONCE a day only). Also it can make you feel fuller so helps weight loss .

I wouldn't recommend trying unless you spoke to a doctor first but if they say it may help anything worth a try

Lots of uses for cleaning, if your scissors get sticky wipe down the blades with vinegar then wipe them off , you'll see the difference.

It removes stains from carpet and removes ball point pen marks .

I add it to my washing machine as it helps keep it clean but removes excess detergent residue from clothes too.

Alanhaslam I can’t have vinegar sadly because I have Barrett’s oesophagus and suffer with Reflux if I try just a tiny amount 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s such a nightmare but it’s because of hereditary conditions that caused it, I used to have salt and vinegar on chips when I was younger but now I only have to look at fish and chips and I suffer, I think it’s apple cider vinegar that people can drink I Remember my Mum used to say Drinking the vinegar that you can put on your food is Bad for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just this year I heard that vinegar can really help quickly relieve a bite or sting, I've heard many people share this information and saying it really helps, even TV doctors.

I've heard it can depend on the type of bite or sting to though, with vinegar containing a type of acid that will help to neutralise certain venom, helping provide a soothing sensation.

Most vinegar should help, but apple cider vinegar is most recommended.

Although the NHS website does say: Avoid traditional home remedies, such as vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, as they're unlikely to help.

The vinegar left over from pickled onions is very good in preventing night cramp, you don't rub it in though you drink it. It will also ease arthritic or rheumatic pain in joints. You don't need to drink vast quantities of it for either.

Tonic water is also very good for cramp.

You don't need very much vinegar left in the bottom of pickled onion jars to get rid of fruit flies. Just replace the lid and punch a few holes in the top, I use an old dart, they'll be queuing up to drown in the vinegar. For some reason they can fly in through the holes but can't fly out.

Time flies like an arrow - fruit flies like a banana 😀
