Using Alternatives to Shampoo
Ask a Question
Has anyone tried dry shampoos? Or even shampoo bars?
I’ve tried the former and never liked it, but it’s useful for occasions when you can’t get to running water, such as when you’re camping or at festivals
Shampoo bars, however, I’ve never tried before. If you’ve used them before, where did you get yours? Would you recommend them?
I have used dry shampoo between washes on occasion. They can help make the hair look more refreshed but certainly doesn't feel any cleaner. Iv not used shampoo bars but I'd be quite interested in using one, However I just cant imagine they would be very conditioning.
Yes, I’ve seen reviews where people have complained that shampoo bars leave a residue, but I’m wondering if it’s more to do with the particular product they used rather than shampoo bars in general. But the idea of them seems good, and they’re easy to carry around for holidays
I have been trying not to wash my hair as often as I would have done before to eek out the remaining bit! I don't really know what else you could use?! I will probably have to resort to a bar of soap when the time comes?
Shampoo bars are great, some of the Lush one last long too....and yeah when u are in hospital for weeks dry shampoo is useful.
Tried them both. With trying anything new I recommend just checking on your hand first with allergies.
I think we forget to mention that as we live in a world with more chemicals than common sense.
I think each skin/scalp is different so pay attention to how you react rather than what works for someone else.
Good luck!
Thanks! I was trying to scout companies for samples, but most of the postage prices are so high, I might as well just buy them. Fingers crossed I find one I like
With my ocd i regularly buy massive blocks of carbolic soap and just cut them up maybe try that Spexy i have 2 years supply lol - i will say though that it was £5.99 for a 2lb bar its just gone up to £15.99 sad some people are taking advantage during this crisis isnt it!
hspexy They must have read my post the price has dropped!
Just so you always know i tell the truth:-

I usually get mine from the carbolic soap company until this new one started selling it but i refuse to buy from them - check their managing director - says it all really i never buy from them all ripoff merchants cant trust anything they sell!
I normally wash my hair daily when I am at work but trying to do it every other day whilst not working. I use silicone and paraben free shampoo and wash my hair twice to get best results if I don’t wash my hair it looks greasy and I can’t style it as it gets so messy once I have slept on it!
If you suffer from dry scalp, squeeze a lemon and a bit of mustard oil. Works wonders. Not for the faint hearted it does sting
Thanks for the tip. I don’t really have a scalp problem - the hair just tends to be oily, and hair can feel a bit dry after a wash. Just trying out alternatives that would be better for the environment, as well as more convenient to carry around, etc.
