Vandals Desecrate Ancient Church Just Days after £150,000 Restoration

In the News

What goes through the minds of these morons not only to destroy a property but to desecrate a sacred ancient church ???

Some of this generation has lost all respect for the chuch and society in general

It's a question that runs through my mind regularly, people in general today have a serious lack of respect for anything or anyone.

When I was young (I'm not even 30 yet so I feel I'm from a different generation) I would of been terrified of either the police or my mother if I stepped out of line.

I think it's a lack of discipline at home and a lack of deterent from the law.

I have no respect for the church but I wouldn't go trashing the place.

I am not a churchgoer myself either S , but i feel for people who are and those that contribute towards them , a lot of work is charitable, helping the poor and needy, and along come some A@@@holes that just want to destroy a beautiful restored building for no other reason but other than boredom , i would swing for them if i got hold of the scroats

telmel Too many sad acts about thinking its great to trash a building or business. Nothing happens to the culprits to discourage future incidents. I feel more sorry for small businesses that get trashed as the Church is ridiculously rich compared to small businesses.

Society is to blame M , they probably have grown up with no discipline and they know ' if ' they get caught, which is an extremely remote possibility all they will get is a slap on the wrist

The country is so soft on criminals , thats partly why crime is on the increase

True T .Quite a lot is learnt in the home as well. I was an Appropriate Adult in Police Stations for many years. It never ceased to amaze me how many parents failed to show up or were made of the same contaminated stuff. Image

The cartoon says it all M, i am sure there are families around the country where sadly an asbo is a trophy to be proud of

I would love to post happy news items instead of depressing ones, but they are so hard to find unfortunately ☹️

It does seem kids today are not happy unless they are destroying something or hurting each other

Where did all this knife crime come from M ?

Why do kids want to go around sticking a piece of steel in each other ?

You hardly see this happening in other countries , only the UK

You look at hardline countries like saudi and other eastern domains and their punishments are very extreme, hands chopped off for stealing for example, it sounds barbaric , but you never see feral gangs roaming the streets stabbing each other and crime is kept to a minimum

I am not condoning their law system , its too extreme, but if the UK at least came part way to taking a harder stance then possibly this type of thing could be stamped out
