A Vegan Bbq Anyone?

Other

I’m a meat eater and I’ve only ever been to regular barbecues. Even when I was a vegetarian I accepted the fact that at regular barbecues, I’d get little to eat, and some of the food may perhaps be slightly contaminated with meat products. So what of a vegan barbecue? Have you been to one? What would you bring?

I think I’d have to make some tofu burgers for the occasion

What do you think of this?

No....but vegan means just vegetables, because can not eat anything from animal origins...They can grill Quorn products, soya base things

Aubergine is great to grill and mix it with oil and garlic, salt and make a pate and eat it on bread

Yes, it’s definitely quite restrictive. There’s a lot of regular items they won’t be able to eat. And drink as well. I guess it’s an opportunity to be creative

hspexy once I saw a documentary a bout soy based products and their effect to the body and it messes up the hormone system, because they do not make the soy beans in the traditional way... People think it is healthy vegetarian and vegan and in the meantime we will see the health effects after years.

AgnesFaludi yes soy unfortunately has a lot of oestrogen, so I take should be limited, especially for men. The bean itself is also bad for people who suffer gout, although that’s more due to excessive consumption than occasional consumption. I eat meat so no need for soy myself

Vegan burgers in Iceland, Vegan sausages in Sainsburys, vegetable kebabs. I use either a baking foil tray or a disposable barbeque so there is no risk of contamination. So many plant based alternatives these days. Oh and barbecued pineapple is amazing by the way

Thanks for the suggestion - I must try the barbecued pineapple one day, perhaps some pineapple between some kebabs 👍

Lol if you like sizzling sausages and burgers on a barbecue, like I do, then the vegan versions will never do 😜

My friend is Vegan. She would tell you that she can make a pretty good vegan BBQ. Vegan burgers, sausages, potato salad, couscous, BBQ pulled jackfruit. List is endless if you know. I'm not vegan tho.
