We can now visit relatives and friends in their gardens (up to 6 people) .
I feel that the message has not yet been put across strongly enough that social distancing must still be strictly observed especially with young children and their grandparents - Absolutely No HUGS or KISSES !!!
We will see a rise in infections due to this easing - no argument ! - Act intelligently , responsibly and don't allow your family or friends to be part of this spike in infections .
Remember any of us could have the virus and spread it and not even know it! - FACT !
Track and trace should limit all these mini spikes (that's the hope !) but that's no comfort if your kids have unintentionally infected Grandma and Grandad .
Assume everyone has the virus however well they feel (even yourself)and act accordingly .
I second that! Itll be hard to stay away from them physically if you can see them in person (them = family friends partners) but its important to maintain the distance and no-one really wants a second lockdown!
Unfortunately, my family is full of idiots and have been meeting up already.
I've also been having problems with my parents who are mid 70s and going out shopping at least twice a week. They also walk into the centre of town to get the paper every morning. I've given up with them tbh. They think that as they're relatively fit for their age that they'll only get mild symptoms if they catch Covid.
It's sooooooo annoying.
My neighbour goes off round to her mum's nearly every day because she cannot cope with her kids when hubby is at work.
She also had 4 girlfriends visit and they and her kids were out on her front drive which, at a guess, is about 12 x 8 foot.
She is a nice person but some people just don't seem to be able to get their heads around all this.
My neighbours are similar. They're both at home with 2 small children but 3 times this week they've had BBQs and friends around. I know they've been out all day too because the postman asked me to take their post in for them.
My mum is on her way to mine. Haven't seen her since the beginning of March. It will be so hard not giving her a hug but we've both abided by rules so far and will do so. Luckily it's sunny so we can sit 2m apart in the garden easily enough
we Will see the in-laws and they will see grand children when we think it’s safe for them to leave home. We allowed our daughter from Monday to see her boyfriend but no one else. Wouldn’t you feel really bad if you were a carrier of this horrible virus and spread it to a relative. You know they safe at home and this won’t be for ever.
You're absolutely right. It is difficult but you've got to remember that if you hug/kiss or even get close to your loved ones you could make them very ill. I've already seen lots of people not abiding by social distancing and it makes me sad and frustrated, people must either think they are exempt or just don't care.
Our family are in Northern Ireland or are a 4 hour drive away so we see them on video chat! I witnessed it at the weekend, people bringing their kids to see grandparents and everyone was hugging each other! I haven't been out since lockdown has eased, except to the garden with my son and husband. People are not being sensible. Scotland has only just eased its lockdown and ot was on the news last night that they might have to reinforce the previous lockdown rules because people weren't being sensible! I know it is sunny and people miss their families but it isn't worth the risk!
