Would You Want to Make Contact?
Ask a Question
If we were to find out if their was another planet with life would you want to make contact?
I know there is a theory that people wouldn't want to make contact in the fear of the of an attack on this planet. Also how would religious people feel about knowing another planet out there with life?
I personally would love to make contact as i do believe there is another planet out with life as we cant be the only planet in billions of other planets that happens to have the right conditions to sustain life.
I think they always try interpret signals from space and send the one from earth anyway...such as classical music etc. But what if they turn out to be not friendly? Way more clever and advanced than us? And then decide to take over? Or destroy human race because of what humans do to the planet? Of course there are other planets. And most likely they got some life in them. There are even theories about multiverse and that there are other copies of earth scattered in it. But. It's not as easy as inviting your neighbour for a cuppa. And we got no way of knowing their intentions. Also it could go other way round since humans are greedy they might want to steal all of their creations and keep them here as a guinea pigs to make tests on...
I know that as that's what the theory is about fear of communicating for them reasons. Would you want to make contact?
Getsome when I was teenager I was obsessed with x-files, men in black etc... People always fear of the unknown. But there's a good chance they don't want to be found. I dont think we should make contact. The way I see it they either turn out to be evil and destroy us or they are kind and humans decide to exploit them. I don't see how else it could end. People getting killed everyday, starve are homeless, kids and animals getting abused, our planets resources used up to the max...and yet you think humans would show kindness and compassion to some alien??? I doubt it. If anything it would make it easier to eliminate them.
jurgita0712 I think we should as we should focus on space exploration. I would love to know who or what was out there. I'm interested to see how evolution has took place on a different planet and if they are more or less advanced.
Getsome sometimes if you can do something it doesn't mean you should. We will never have all the answers. I dont think that human race is there yet and prepared for such things to happen anyway. And as I said before humans are too selfish. Only think about short time gain and destroy rare species without second thought...it just would not end well. Either for us or for them. Or do you think that keeping some aliens in cages as lab rats would be good for anyone? Because that's exactly what would happen. Some of worlds richest would decide they want the new toy to play with and it wouldn't be allowed back.
jurgita0712 But in this case i would disagree and i think we should be exploring and developing space travel. Also whose to say we are the superior species as our sun is one of the youngest?
Even if there was another life form, even if we could communicate (bit hard if they are bugs or something) even if they were friendly, how long would the good relations last. We can't achieve peace on earth so how can we expect to keep the peace with other planets?
Lynibis War is always going to happen, we will never be a planet at peace due to peoples differences in ideas and beliefs but i personally would love to make contact. If i ever got the chance to go into space i would be off in an instant.
Would love to contact that planet which sends signals from the space. But they are just too far....to get a response in million years time with the current tech.
I'm expecting life to be everywhere pretty much, simple life, bacteria etc. It can exist pretty much anywhere where there is carbon, water and energy and that energy can be from a molten core it doesn't have to be the right distance around a star but the billions of years needed of stable conditions to allow life like us seems very unlikely. There may only be half a dozen civilisations in the whole of the milky way at any one time or some other ridiculously low figure. It's quite possible the more advanced civilisation would destroy the less advanced civilisation if they meet anyway so unless we are the more advanced its not in our interests to meet them. Remember life consumes other life, we like to think of ourselves as nice but you only have to look inside an abattoir to see the reality of humanity and that sort of reality would likely be similar for another alien civilisation.
Of course I would! But I don't think there are intelligent species like us, only maybe some bacteria, maybe bugs and small stuff.
