NO! DO NOT WASH CHICKEN.

Most chicken is full of salmonella and washing it will just help the spread of the bug.

Come Dine should have never have shown that, but it's a norm especially in some backgrounds.

Washing raw chicken before cooking it can increase your risk of food poisoning from campylobacter bacteria.

Splashing water from washing chicken under a tap can spread the bacteria onto hands, work surfaces, clothing and cooking equipment.

Water droplets can travel more than 50cm in every direction. Only a few campylobacter cells are needed to cause food poisoning.

Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK.

Most cases of campylobacter infection come from poultry. Recent studies have found over 50% of the chicken sold in the UK carries the bacteria.

Campylobacter poisoning can cause tummy pain, severe diarrhoea, and sometimes vomiting for between 2 and 5 days.

I normally wash chicken as I think it's been in the packaging for a while, I know it sounds weird, I want to wash the taste off 🙂

You should never wash chicken! It will just spread the bacteria around your kitchen.

Never wash chicken. If it has odour when opening packet let it stand for a few minutes but do not wash. I keep a separate board and chopping knife for chicken.

Oh this is quite smart. I haven't considered this. I find that the chicken goes off sooner than the best before date is which is worrying...

No, I let them wash themselves. I wouldn't want to invade their privacy.

Most chicken already comes washed, as advised on the packaging on my while chicken yesterday! But like others have said you shouldn‘t wash the chicken yourself.

No we never wash raw chicken , if it's a complete chicken we use dry kitchen roll to wipe the inside out before putting it in the oven , other than that it's just cooked straight from the pack.

Yes, we wash like every other meat.

Not a fan of animals being killed for meat, but that's life. I've already seen a pork before and after his life, then cutting the meat felt perfectly normal. He was extremely heavy which made it worth it.
