Water Beds- Love Them or Hate Them?
Ask a Question
My sister-in-law is considering buying a water bed. I think it’s a strange choice myself, but she’s adamant.
Has anyone bought one, or regret buying one?
HappyTravels I thinks she’s mad. Have not read any good reports on these beds and I believe there are health issues concerning them.
BlueEyesX, You have an option as to 'firmness'...HappyTravels .... as regards health issues and aches RegularComper90...well we did loads of research and ours helped us no end with bad backs. You have to buy wisely and get advice.... and ideally....not plan on moving anytime soon lol. Our problem was the constant tossing and turning when hubby developed really bad R.A. and I couldn't sleep.
Can't be very good for you if you use them long term, as I imagine that you could very well end up with aches and pains as well as a bad posture over time due to the lack of support. Best of luck to her all the same.
I have a friend who has a water bed and he swears by it he said it has reduced his aches and Pains and that it is very comfortable, not sure if I would purchase one though
We had one many years ago and folk seemed to think we were being 'kinky'. It was really, really comfortable and lasted years. We eventually got rid of it because hubby has bad R.A. and his tossing around just didn't go with the water bed option! I couldn't sleep. We replaced it with 2 beds we shove together as we were planning on moving anyway....and are still moving around. Nowadays I think there are separate mattresses which go in the one outer casing so I'd recommend that option. We'd have another and go with the twin option. We dismantled ours and used the wood around the house and the liner in the garden. The side panels made a headboard for visitors. We got our money's worth!!!!!
I would like to try a water bed out, but I doubt I'd ever consider purchasing one for my own bedroom.
ACR and rossruby1977 again, this is going back 15 to 20 years, but in Penrith, Cumbria, there (is ?/) was a small place that specialised and we went a couple of times to try them out (feeling a bit self conscious, I admit!). I remember fretting that it'd puncture if we did have one, but the bag is really strong! We did have a minor leak but the repair kit was easy to use. You had to add a chemical to the water in the bag every few months and remove any air pockets, and wipe over the 'bag' outside with a treatment but that was about it.....and no mattress to turn!!!!
