10 Ways to Save Money?

Money Saving

So I need some ideas... I budget on loads and managed to save money in other areas, a few people told me about a couple of apps that gives money back but I've never got lucky with any of them.

How do you go about saving money in certain areas?

Well I dont really know much about money saving apps but I would love to recommend you to try apps that earns you money (that you can save every month). For example - Honeygain. Amazing app that lets you sell your unused internet traffic. 100% legit and they say you can make 30-40£ per month. Im using it for maybe 2-3 weeks and I already reached minimum 20$ payout and got my money to my PayPal account. Plus, if you decided to give this app a try use extra 5$ coupon "forumbee" to make your payout quicker 🙂 Anyway, you can read more about app here ;)

Why dollars and not ££? Are you a robot just promoting a dodgy website that steals data? 👀

or is this actually genuine?!

When you need extra money there's three main ways to get it:

  1. Save more
  2. Earn more
  3. Borrow

Earning more may actually be easier than saving more, especially if you're good at budgeting already.

Here's a useful list of 50 ideas to make extra money fast (I've posted it before):

https://www.moneywise.co.uk/work/earning-money/50-ways-make-money

A good way to prioritise what to do, is to work out what will definitely put real money in your hand within:

a) days

b) weeks

c) months

Sometimes what appear to be easy ways of making money (entering competitions etc) actually aren't. Some methods of earning extra money pay far less than the minimum wage once you factor in how many hours you actually spend doing them. Beware.

The fastest methods, such as baby-sitting, dog-walking, gardening, taking in ironing, can put extra cash in your hand almost instantly.

Back to saving. If you're lucky enough to have an employer with good benefits, be sure to grab what's on offer like interest free loans for an annual season travel ticket, deducted from your salary monthly, or matched personal pension contributions. If you don't max out on these whilst you have the opportunity, it's like refusing free money!

And if you smoke, quit. Smoking is almost as bad for your wallet as it is for your lungs. Check this smoking cost calculator to see how much you could save: https://www.nhs.uk/smokefree/why-quit/cost-calculator

Good luck!

I cut money in certain areas.

I got cheaper broadband, I cut my sky subscription and got an amazon fire stick, I stopped shopping at asda and tesco and now shop at lidl, foodware house and home bargains.

I bulk buy good deals which saves me money in the long run.

And I use a survey site called curious cat which pays out to PayPal instantly after earning £1. Plus there's an app you can download where you get paid to play games! I earned £5in a week 🙂

I've heard of apps where you get paid for playing games. Can I ask which one you use?

MrsCraig hi there it's called mistplay 🙂 I found it to be really good. I let me kids play on the games when they are on my phone to rack up points lol

dholly39 how much do you earn with mistplay? How long would you say it takes to build up points? I tried a similar app a white ago I think but found it was barely building up pennies after playing games for a long time

i cut down on my food shopping with meal planning & buying less meat (believe me it works!). Also I walk to the shops near me to get stuff rather than driving to save on petrol, I know not everyone is so lucky to have a supermarket on their doorstop but just some ideas on what I do 😊

I do a once yearly overview of my finances, and trim where I can.

For Instance, I've just saved a couple of pound a month on my Mobile deal, plus I get more data.

I've also cut down my Costa Coffee drinking, I reckon I will save £100 a year just on this alone.

Lots of really good ideas already mentioned but definitely do a check of all your direct debits to see if you are paying for things you no longer use. I’ve just cancelled one to Microsoft as I can get everything I need free through google. £6 a month saved. £35 down to £17 by swapping gyms. Then shopping around to see if you can get your other bills cheaper like utilities. If you have a cashback sure account quite often you can get a few quid cash back and save money on monthly bills. Takes a bit of time to go through it all properly but worth it.

Not buying drinks when going out to eat. Stick with tap water. All adds up.
