How Are Weather Forecasts Made?
In the News
Extreme weather events are happening around the world on a regular basis, causing misery for those affected.
The UK had Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis over successive weekends, Spain and France were hit by severe storms last month and Australia has suffered with extreme heat, leading to wildfires.
Weather forecasts predicting such events help people to prepare - but how is a forecast put together?

Personally I think that if (ha ha ha) they get it wrong they should be sacked. This must be one of the only jobs where you get paid whether you get it right or not!!! We all pay a fortune to be told what the weather will do, but they are almost never right round here...
What a palaver, that's dreadful, at least you got home eventually and that you are all ok. They do advise not to enter standing water (as you can't tell how deep it is - unless you know the road really well) that's a terrible way to find out why. How is your car?
However, I check the forecast regularly and can testify to the fact that they change it an hour before it happens - I can look out of the window by then! They aren't capable of sufficiently forecasting unless there is no doubt;- rain, rain and more rain or sun, sun & more sun!
Sanitation1234 I'll but it was quite a shock to you both. Just rest up today, if you can, things will look brighter tomorrow
