What Do You Do When Someone Deliberately Pushes in Front of You in a Queue?

Ask a Question

Do you just let it go or do you say/do something?

On the relatively rare occasion that it happens to me (like it has done today), I never say anything to them but I do certainly push back in front of them. That person never tries it again.

Waiting in a short queue for a couple of minutes of your life isn't going to hurt anyone.

What do you think of this?

Luckily this doesn’t happen at the moment due to social distancing but in the past I have always said something in the best way, you never know if they may turn on you and be nasty.

I say something to them usually. I say it very politely but rather loudly, so other people around can hear me too. The queue jumper usually starts apologizing and saying they didn't realise they were jumping the queue, and then go back to where they should be now people are looking at them.

Yes, it is very rude. Good manners and a bit of patience costs nothing.

While we were in Aberdeen yesterday, a group of 4 youths blithely tumbled through the door my hubby was politely holding open ... totally oblivious, not one of them made eye contact or thanked him...I was disgusted and passed a comment concerning him being a mere 'doorman' for them but again ...they were oblivious.... ah well!!!!! Needless to say Social distancing was totally out of their awareness too!!!

Lol I usually really loudly say sarcastically 'thank you everyone' when I've held the door open for people and they don't say thank you.

I say excuse me there is a queue and when people don’t say thank you I always say manners don’t cost anything and a please and a thank you goes a long way, then I tend to let another person in front of me with there shopping 😊

Occasionally may tell them there's a queue especially if it's a particularly long queue , but more often than not say nothing and pretend I didn't even notice.

I left my son in a queue while I went to grab another item. As I ran back I noticed an elderly lady walk right up in front of him, I was so shocked. I stood behind her and politely said my son was queuing assuming she would apologise but all she bluntly said was she was in a hurry. I loudly told my son he had good manners and those people behind me agreed.

RegularComper90 thank you. We are taught to respect our elders but she really didn’t deserve any.

When I was younger, I wouldn’t have said anything, just quietly fume. As I’ve got older though, I will challenge people who are being inconsiderate or rude.

I hate drivers who try to cut in front of you in queues too 😡

gerrykelly25 I agree with you with drivers, particularly those that know a lane is closed, but will continue past the queue, right to the very end where the road is closed and squeeze in .

Mango4 exactly! It drives me mad. Why do they think that they are too important to queue like everyone else. Sounds petty, but I do my best not to let them in 😊

Mango4 ha ha! This reminds me of something that happened to me. I driver tried to push in front of me, so I slowly crept up to the car in front, and he was driving slowly at the side of me still trying to get in and making it obvious he wanted that gap, so I just crept up more, right up to the bumper of the car in front. His face of frustration was a picture!! 😂

I will usually say excuse me there is a queue, rather loudly and if that doesn't work then I will push back in front of them and simply say I was here first. I have never skipped the queue, it is just rude. When I worked in retail if I saw someone skip the queue then I would deliberately serve the person they jumped ahead of first. Same when I worked in the pub
