Why Mark Post as Expired When It's Not?

Latest Deals

This happens regularly for my posts and when I check it's always still there...strange? I think lots of older ones will be but it's always a current one.

Happens to me all the time sometimes genuine as things come in and out of stock , other times no idea why it's expired, but you can just unexpire it if the item is still available.

Yes happened to me several times ( I know of one username who often does it to me as I left a critical comment on one of their deals ! ) - Childish or what !

The rest of the time it is because a member gets 5 points for expiring a deal (3 times a day ) and we all know that many members post rubbish deals , open inane chat topics , expire deals , like non deals ,make a comment etc just for the points !

At the end of the day you don't lose your deal points for it being expired - so let the children play if 5 points is so important to them .

Golfforall Is there a way to know for certain who has expired one of your deals? Although some years ago I suspected it was either one of two people repeatedly expiring one of my deals I couldn't even be certain of that.

Where a deal has actually expired - I welcome them being expired if I haven't noticed they've expired. .

davidstockport The system does not share with members who reported the post. However, we do keep track of the number of incorrect reports someone raises, and if many, their ability to report becomes revoked.

Tom That is exactly what I thought - it did appear though that Golfforall did definitely know who had been expiring his deals. Very strong suspicions maybe - but not proof.

Perhaps members need to draw it to your attention if they suspect their deals are being vandalized maliciously, if they don't bother to let you know you might never become aware of it.

davidstockport Yes when a member makes comments on 20 or 30 of my historic deals "this is not a good deal " no more descriptive , no reason why its not a good deal and shortly after many of my still current deals get expired you don't have to be a genius to work it out !

Still children will be children! Sadly that member is still click and pasting 3 rubbish Amazon non deals and 3 vouchers every single day (presumably also 3 expiries , likes and comments too? ) - no more no less and the "nondeals" always from Amazon are all really cringeworthy .

Takes all sorts I suppose.

Golfforall I know what you mean - if you check my first ever deal (Farmfoods) you will see what I had to put up with from two members (possibly one using different names - one of them who almost definitely also used a female name), who are no longer around - well not around using those names☺

Another more recently also putting near obscene gifs on my deals.https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/classic-oxford-leather-shoes-sizes-samuel-windsor

davidstockport Yes I'm pretty sure we have a few "multis" on here . I suppose its more difficult to track these days when very few post deals in their own words .

(Click and paste - 3 non deals, 3 vouchers posted via click and paste in 30 seconds ) .

In my view not what the site is for ! It should be for sharing good deals , not sharing rubbish "non deals" as fast as possible to amass points towards Amazon vouchers .

I did make a suggestion to the founders that only one deal could be posted ,say every 20 minutes , but I get the impression they are happier to see a large quantity of "non deals" swamping the site rather than have a mechanism for controlling the dross that is posted on here as "deals".

I'm afraid I disagree with them on that point , I would rather see less but better deals on here and cut out the obvious "non deals" posted solely to amass points .

Golfforall Another FIDDLE I've noticed (a few members do it) is posting a deal then seconds later posting a deal to the exact same item at a slightly lower price. (Quite in order apparently) ☺

davidstockport That's one of the problems with the click and pasters they post one non deal from Amazon (say a biro ) , even if its not the best deal on that biro on Amazon then follow alternatives on the same Amazon page (sponsored items related to this product ) to click and paste 2 more !

There are at least 4 usernames using that same method- just 3 Amazon non deals every day never more than 3, never less than 3 . Coincidence ?

Golfforall I suspect it's many more than four - as said I found two when not even looking for them. You might notice the "points gatherers" also obviously take full advantage of the five points for a like too.

They must be really hard up if they need to do things like that.

Yes,I've had it happen a few times, even though the item was still available 😞 or someone complaining why an item I've listed from 9 months ago has increased in price 😄x

To be fair it is a good way to clean up the site as I don't keep an eye on all of my deals and expire them myself . But as you say it does happen to current deals .

Just unexpire then the member will lose their 5 points for expiring it (and will probably run crying to mummy as a result ).

Usually if a thing has increased in price, it is IMO quite in order to expire the deal, as the new price is no longer the "deal price" so that deal has obviously expired, someone recently expired such a deal I posted - I've no issues with that.

Only yesterday (before this topic) someone told me one of my deals from two years ago had sold out. I thanked them,https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/mens-barcelona-football-club-pyjamas-character

This has happened to me quite a few times, once only a few minutes after I posted and I checked and it hadn’t expired🤔

They normally the ones where a voucher or code is needed and because they most prob used it from an other group or some vouchers are only for certain members of amazon. I take screen shots on some of mine because have family member ship

It's not always for points or malicious (although I suspect it often often is) it can be that the required size or colour is not available (sold out) and the person expiring it thinks it is in order to mark as expired.

I do also think that occasionally certain browsers will not connect with the site the offer is on. (it seems to be those using Firefox who experience that most).

There are thousands of new members joining every week. I think some of the 'false expiries' are made by newbies erroneously clicking buttons to see what happens.

Unfortunately if you click the report as expired button to see what happens, you can't then 'undo' that action.

In other words some false expires can be caused simply by people making a mistake.

I occasionally expire comps if I've clicked through and they've ended-to save others the time of trying needlessly-no malice etc intended tho.

Hey thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you may be receiving incorrect reports of that your deal may be expired.

Many expired reports are checked by our Mentors, and if found to be incorrect, the member who reported it won't get points. Also, we do have a system in place whereby if someone is consistently reporting things incorrectly, their ability to report is restricted.

I've made a note to have a look through your profile next week to see if it's the same person reporting all your deals incorrectly - and if so - we can restrict their ability. 👍
