Why Title Cannot Be Longer than 80 Characters, There Are some Categories Missing
Feedback
Why title cannot be longer than 80 characters?
There are some categories missing some from top of my mind
1. Mobiles
2. Finance
Snap. I have noticed some of my listings have had to be sub-edited which is not bother. Also, perhaps there can be additional filters added so the search facility can be more impactful.
Sometimes long titles are unnecessarily long so here it forces the users to intelligently think of ways to describe a product in 80 characters or less. It's like on Twitter, you have 140 characters and you've got to plan on how to word it up in one go.
This personally hasn't been an issue to me because once you get used to write within that limit, it's quite handy.
Hey thanks for the feedback
The original idea behind the title limit was a) to try and encourage people to rewrite titles to be as succinct as possible and b) (a little selfishly ) to make my life easier trying to design the site to work on mobiles and desktops in both grid and list view. The longer the title the more difficult it is to squeeze in.
Would you mind sharing some titles that you felt needed more than 80 characters? We’re always open to changing things up and if there are titles that just don’t fit we can definitely revisit it!
Re: categories, we‘re keen to improve our tagging system to hopefully work as well as the existing categories so people can really drill down to exactly the sort of deals they’re interested in. Step 1 will be to clean up the existing categories as there’s a lot mod unnecessary ones. Then we’ll have to think how to make it easier to filter/search by the tags. Would be good to get your thoughts!
Ultimate Ears "UE" WONDERBOOM Bluetooth Speaker, Waterproof with Double-Up Connection - Twin Pack Black and Grey is one example and when I am trying to post this deal the webiste is not responding as well.
gbharatkumar Sorry - we had a couple of technical issues. If you refresh the site you should now be able to post deals properly again
And thanks for the heads up on the title
