Worst Customer Service from Amazon

Ask a Question

Hope this is not a sign to come in 2020 Amazon customer service is getting as bad as the sellers they allow to trade. I am still fighting for a refund since october I have had 5 telephone calls- two they hung up on me and in excess of 8 chats. It was a deal posted through LD those friends hoodies I bought for christmas so not a lot of money but the principal. Anyone else fed up? lol

Before Christmas I literally spent about 10 hours over 2 days arguing with them on live chat. They lied throughout, changing their story, getting rid of me by saying they would get their manager to ring me. Pretending to be managers. Finally, after 1 long, extremely sarcastic message from me they said they would get someone to ring me immediately. I replied back laughing my head off. Then the phone rang, it was a lovely man in Ireland who couldn't apologise enough after reading briefly through the hundreds of messages and refunded me, he then said was their anything else he could do to which I replied after the treatment from their customer service team I think a gesture of goodwill would be nice and he added a £5 voucher to my account. He also advised if I have a problem in future to ring between I think it was 6 and 11 and you will get through to someone working from home in the UK who has more flexibility to action things immediately than their call centre. Hope this might help.

OneeyedRaven no worry, sorry it was such a long winded reply. To be honest mine was over such a silly amount that I wouldnt have bothered, I was just so incensed by how rude and inefficient they were. My husband said 'God help them now they've set you off' 😂😂

That's good advice, thanks for sharing. Their chat is absolutely awful most of the time. It can take an hour to get sorted when it should take 5 minutes at most.

I have always found the words financial and ombudsman work well with Amazon. I was having no luck either with them over a refund, so started a claim through the ombudsman, informed Amazon of the details and is if by magic a refund appeared the same day. Good luck and as much as it is a pain, continue with it, hate companies that think they can get away with poor service just because of their size

Oh dear how frustrating for you. Good luck and hope it gets resolved soon.

i had a problem with an order where the order was for a pack of two and only one was delivered. Last night I did the online chat and was told to return it for a full refund but my husband already attached it to his Garmin watch and is pleased with it. After me requesting another they said they couldn’t because it wasn’t an amazon order. I told them i ordered through amazon, anyway to cut a long story short they refunded me.

Customer service has really really dropped , it puts me off buying if you're going to have as massive issue.

I'm always found Amazon live chat to be brilliant. They did however sub contract deliveries to Hermes before xmas and we had issues there though so I really hope that was just to cover the xmas rush. If they've thrown their lot in with with Hermes on a permanent basis we'll be cancelling our prime membership.

Ive only ever had a few small issues with amazon and even if not sorted on live chat on the first attenpt its always been resolved pretty quickly with an email.

Wow, I've never had an experience that bad, but they've certainly been slipping. They used to be the best customer service ever, but are much less so these days (past year maybe).

That was exactly my comment on one of my messages to them. Their customer service used to be excellent but wow you would not believe the responses I was getting, it wasn't like dealing with the same company at all.

Amazon has been going downhill for a while. it’s delivery customer, service and the prices have really gone up compared to other places. a few things iv seen on amazon I have typed in on google and they are half the price other places and even though they have free delivery it’s still cheaper to buy most stuff elsewhere with the delivery

Amazon's tactic (one of them) is to price common items lower than competitors, and other things more expensive. The idea being that you see something common cheaper there and associate them with being cheap, and buy other stuff without checking prices. Obviously doesn't fool everyone though, and sometimes they have higher prices for common stuff too.

Amazon are great for clearance stuff though - if they've not sold an item for a while, they'll heavily reduce it and keep doing so until it sells.
