Worst Weather for Lockdown

Ask a Question

Is it harder to have lockdown in nice weather or rain? During first one we spent a lot of time in garden which you can't do in wet weather. I found I need to get fresh air more than I realised but in this weather you don't want to go anywhere

The weather is lovely here in SW Wales and I'd love to take my doggo to the lake, but we're not allowed 😔

Wet weather really gets me down, so I'd much rather it be fine.

With the darker nights and generally poorer weather I think this lockdown will be tougher.

At least over the summer you could sit in your garden of an evening, or go for a wander in the park.

That's my thinking liked sitting in garden in evening with beer after kids in bed

Couldn't agree more really enjoyed being able to spent time in the garden also fine a lot of painting and little diy jobs in the good weather not a option in dark wet days of winter

Personally, I like the weather this time of year, the cold and the rain, but I think it will be harder for people in general as like you say you can't spend time in the garden or things like that.

Although, I think this lockdown might be more effective because of the weather. Lots of people ignored the rules of the first lockdown because they wanted to be out in the sun, wanted to go places, etc and we kept having heatwaves. Should be different this time around.

I don't mind lockdown when the weather is bad as it beats waiting for my train in the cold and wet, however it was makes meeting people from other households a lot more difficult, no one wants to meet in their garden in the rain

You're so right. Lockdown is easier for me too when the weather is bad. I don't want to go out when it's cold and raining. So feel more content to stay home.

Imnotcheap Have you thought about one of the online private schools that are springing up? Cut-price fees, no need to leave the house and no disruption to the kiddos education from all the locking and unlocking.

I think it is a lot harder to have good weather during the lockdown. When it's warm I go to the beach, zoos, have picnics etc. So I know what I am missing out on being stuck inside. During the cold weather I know I'm not missing out as much. I don't have to rush around in the freezing cold trying to get to work, waking up early on dark mornings and try to pull myself out of bed, do my errands in pelting rain and walk around with rain soaked socks. The one thing I do miss about the warmer lockdown is being able to do my gardening

I go for a walk everyday regardless of the weather conditions. I don't mind colder temperatures, as you soon warm up. I have wet weather gear if it's raining. Although, with clocks going back an hour last month I'm usually end up walking in the dark. But, it's not too bad as I have seen a lot of amazing sunsets. The light is really nice at this time of the year 🌆

I don't tend to be affected by the weather. I might look outside and see its raining and think I will need to run to the car or I will need an umbrella. I have been lucky and haven't found lockdown hard at all, but I think that the bad weather will have an effect on people and will make lockdown harder for people.
