Lidl Plus: How Does The Loyalty Scheme Work?

Lidl Plus is Lidl’s loyalty scheme. Lidl Plus members can get exclusive discounts, freebies and prizes on their shopping. Read this guide to see how the scheme works, and how to get the most out of the Lidl Plus app.

What is Lidl Plus?

Lidl Plus is Lidl’s loyalty scheme, similar to Clubcard for Tesco or Nectar for Sainsbury’s.

If you shop at Lidl it’s absolutely worth signing up to Lidl Plus. It’s free to join, and you can earn discounts and freebies on your shopping.

How to join Lidl Plus

To join, all you have to do is sign up and download the Lidl Plus app. This rewards scheme is only available through the app. There are no physical cards or website access.

You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Once you’ve joined and downloaded the Lidl Plus app, you can scan your digital card in the app every time you shop.

The more money you spend, the more coupons you’ll unlock. You’ll also get access to exclusive discounts, the chance to win prizes, and receive offers from Lidl’s partner retailers.

Lidl Plus Rewards

So, what rewards can you expect as a Lidl Plus member?

Coupons

Image

Unlike with other supermarket reward schemes, instead of earning points to get rewards, you unlock them by spending money.

They base it off your total monthly spend, so you can accumulate coupons each month.

For example, if you spend £50 you’ll get a coupon for a free bakery item. If you spend another £50, bringing your total spend to £100, you’ll get a £2 off coupon. Spend another £50, taking your monthly total to £150, you’ll get a free Alesto item coupon. And spend another £100, taking your total spend to £250, you’ll get a coupon for 10% off your next shop.

It works on a monthly basis, so some months you may spend more than others, and you’ll be rewarded when you do. For example, if you tend to spend more around Christmas, you may get that £250 spend reward.

It’s important to remember to scan your digital Lidl Plus card in the app everytime you shop. If you forget, you could miss out on earning rewards.

Discounts

As well as earning rewards when you spend, as a Lidl Plus member, you’ll also get access to exclusive discounts. You can view these in the Lidl Plus app, and they could be things like 15% off woodfired pizzas, 20% off toys and so on.

Prizes

They also offer the chance to win prizes with their Lidl Scratch Card.

When you purchase qualifying items, you’ll receive a Lidl Scratch Card in the Lidl Plus app. All you have to do is rub the screen to see if you’ve won a prize. If you have, it will be added to the ‘coupons’ section in your Lidl Plus app.

As an example, you could win a coupon for up to £20 off your next shop

Partner Offers

Lidl collaborates with brands like Jet2 Holidays, AA, The Cinema Society, Kids Pass and more. As a Lidl Plus member, you’ll get the chance to win prizes or get offers from these retailers.

For example, at the time of publishing this guide, Lidl Plus members could enter a competition to win a Jet2 Holiday to Turkey. Or, they could get up to 40% off cinema tickets with The Cinema Society.

How does Lidl Plus compare to other supermarket rewards schemes?

Any reward is better than nothing, so if you shop at Lidl at all, it’s worth signing up for the scheme, especially as it’s free.

In terms of comparing it to other supermarket schemes, you need to spend a lot per month to get the best rewards.

For example, Tesco offers 1 Clubcard point for every £1 you spend. 150 Clubcard points is equal to £1.50, so that’s basically 1% cashback on your shopping.

If you spend £250 in a month at Lidl, you’ll get 10% off your next shop, so basically 10% cashback.

However, that’s only a discount on ONE shop, rather than Clubcard’s cashback every time you spend, and you have to spend £250 in a month to get the full whack 10%. The other rewards, free pastry items and free Alesto items for example, are the kind of perks lots of supermarkets offer as extra treats for their members, not part of their main rewards system.

So, I would say it’s not the best scheme out there, but well worth signing up if you shop at Lidl.

Even if you can spend £50 over a month and get a free pastry from the bakery, it’s better than nothing.

Nice to see a no frills supermarket introducing a loyalty card..... Especially now, as more people are shopping in these stores, due to the high prices in the other supermarkets.... Including myself....xx
