Shoppers Are Furious After Spotting Big Change To Roses Christmas Tubs
Deal Hunters, we've got some fresh intel on a classic Christmas treat, Roses! Last Christmas, Roses tubs were 600g. This year, they've scaled them back to only 550g. And guess what? The price hasn’t budged.
Jonathan Rose at The Sun reported that many sharp-eyed shoppers have taken to social platforms expressing their dismay. Comments ranged from “rip the customer off just for a change” to “it’s like everything nowadays – more money less for it”. One pragmatic customer even said, “Just don’t buy them! Only way this will stop.”
Cadbury, the powerhouse behind Roses, has set the retail price for these tubs at £8.09. However, in supermarkets they cost between £4.50 and £5.50 depending on where you buy them. We found the best price was at ASDA.
If you're scratching your heads, thinking you've seen this before, you're spot on. It's known as shrinkflation. Essentially, it's when companies reduce the size of a product, but not the price. Crafty, eh!
Mondelez, Cadbury’s owner, says rising costs in food commodities, energy, and packaging are the culprits. They mentioned, “our products are much more expensive to make”, and while they try to absorb these costs, sometimes they must make adjustments.
In the words of Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, “Shrinkflation is becoming a regular theme for many beloved products. Consumers need to stay vigilant and always compare the price per gram when shopping.” And there you have it, Deal Hunters. Always stay alert!
No kidding it is the same with toblerone keeps going up in price but smaller in weight on and luerpak butter last year 500g was £2.50 now 450g at £250/£2.75
