Buying crockery, appliances and home accessories can be a pricey business, but one woman managed to snap up a series of amazing bargains by timing her purchases perfectly with university sales.

Rebecca Wilkins, 24, an early years educator from Somerset, managed to snap up £80 worth of Wilko products, including a dinner set, mugs and a toaster, for just £20.

Rebecca posted her fabulous deal on money-saving Facebook group Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Group, where it soon went viral with over 260 likes.

Impressed members of the bargain-hunting community commented: “Wow well done!” and praised the quality of Wilko’s products, writing: "I bought a kettle for £6 from Wilko in an emergency. I thought it would tide me over for a day or two. Still using it six months later and it's absolutely fine."

Others praised Rebecca’s timing, writing: "I got some gorgeous mugs and side plates from there a couple of weeks ago, that look rather like your dinner set - those two plates and two mugs cost more than you paid for an entire dinner set. You got a fabulous bargain. Well done!"

Rebecca told LatestDeals.co.uk that her timing was a happy coincidence. She said: "I was aware when shopping earlier on in the year that Wilko seemed to have loads of stock for uni goers and it was complete luck that I was in Wilko and saw the offer.

“I was originally only looking for a dinner set but I then decided that £6 for a toaster that was meant to be £25 and matching mugs priced at 50p - so eight for £4 instead of £16 - were bargains that were good to miss!”

Rebecca also managed to buy a beautiful tray for just £2, and even snapped up a 12-piece dinner set for just £8.

"I find that by looking out for a large amount of stock in shops and waiting, you tend to get good deals,” Rebecca advises.

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, says: “If you are in need of any appliances, stationery or homeware, now’s the perfect time to buy it, as just like Rebecca points out, the post-freshers’ week sales are in full swing. Budget brands like Wilko can always be trusted to offer great reductions.
