What do I need to know about the gameplay of Borderlands 3?

The core loop of Borderlands 3 is the same as the previous versions. You take on missions, defeat your foes, and obtain loot from fallen enemies or special chests. Often, these are in form of procedurally produced weapons that vary in range, ammo capacity, damage, other special perks.

This first-person loot shooter game allows you to play either alone or in a group of up to four indiviuals. You can create a character from one of the available four classes. To gain experience, you need to take on different missions provided by NPCs or non-playable characters and at bounty boards, in-game monetary rewards, and reward items.

Furthermore, you will be able to obtain these items by defeating your enemies during the game. As you level up, you'll gain skill points that you can allocate across a skill tree. Borderlands 3 has four new characters you can play, these are:

  • Amara, a siren that summons ethereal fists
  • Moze, a young gunner riding the mecha Iron Bear
  • An Operative that comes with a wide range of gadgets
  • FL4K, which is a robot Beastmaster that can summon creatures to help you in fights

Unlike the other games in the series where all characters only possess one unique skill that works on a cooldown, all characters in Borderlands 3 can unlock 3 unique skills. However, you can only equip your character with one at a time except for Zane that can use two. This means that this version allows you to expand the number of potential character builds you can make.

Aside from weapons and character skills, player-characters have new combat abilities and moves. These include crouch-sliding and wall-mounting that allows a character to climb up over short heights. Moreover, both players and enemies can take cover behind short barriers which you can destroy after a continuous weapon onslaught.

According to Paul Sage, his estimate time that players will spend going through the main quest line and side missions of Borderlands 3 is around 35 hours. So if you want to start your shooting and looting your way through a mayhem-fueled adventure, you can get Borderlands 3 cheaply at Steam, CDKeys, Currys PC World, and other reputable UK sellers.

How many weapons are available in Borderlands 3?

You can find more than one billion guns in Borderlands 3. Additionally, each fight gives you the chance to grow your arsenal. Some guns launch exploding saw blades while there are those that you don't even need to reload. Also, others grow legs and pursue enemies on foot when you throw them.

If you find it hard to choose, simply check out their rarity ratings and item scores make it easy to compare the power of your pickups at a glance. Nonetheless, you can also tell a lot about a weapon and its functionality based on its manufacturer.

What are the different worlds to explore in Borderlands 3?

Your Borderlands 3 adventure starts on the familiar desert planet of Pandora from previous Borderlands games. However, your journey does not stop there. You’ll also travel to other worlds aboard your very own spaceship, Sanctuary III. Aside from Pandora, the other environments include:

  • Promethea. Home to the Atlas corporation headquarters, Promethea is a metropolitan world covered in futuristic towers of chrome and glass.
  • Eden-6. A backwater swampland of a planet, and family home of the Jakobs clan. Eden-6 is covered by lush greenery and stagnant waters, dotted with occasional settlements and the rusted hulks of crashed spaceships.
  • Athenas. A misty, tranquil planet that has recently attracted the wrong kind of attention. Athenas is mostly uninhabited, save for a sect of monks known as the Order of the Impending Storm who have made their home in the high peaks of the mountains.
  • Nekrotafeyo. Somewhere in a long-forgotten region of uncharted space lies Nekrotafeyo, the fabled homeworld of the lost Eridian civilization.
  • The Handsome Jackpot. The Handsome Jackpot is an opulent space station casino that has been on lockdown since the death of its owner, the infamous Handsome Jack. It is alanced precariously between two black holes.
  • Xylourgos. Few willingly choose to live on this harsh, windswept ice world, and those that do must deal with mutated rock slugs, ferocious wolves, and other terrifying creatures with teeth and tentacles aplenty.
  • Gehenna. The unrelentingly harsh frontier planet of Gehenna is dangerous as all hell and twice as brutal. Once used as a long-gone company's testing ground for prototype weaponry and biological experiments. These dusty wastes and cut canyons are now lorded over by genetically modified beasts and their keepers, a vicious gang calling themselves The Devil Riders.
