Flossy.Britain's Oldest Cat

In the News

Is...wait for it ..27 years old! That's about 120 in human years. There are undoubtedly other cats whose owners lay claim to same or more but this one is proven and registered. Flossy is a little hard of hearing but otherwise healthy and still loves a good nosh up. Image

Years ago my mother had a cat called Casper who lived to about 26. He looked a right mess at the end. Almost like an animated taxidermy cat. He was albino and his ears had been removed due to skin cancer. He enjoyed life to the end and was a very lucky cat compared to most. Although his start to life was rough once he came to my mother's house he had a great time. I think the main disappointment for Casper was he had a strong hunting instinct presumably because he started life on the streets but being completely white just about every animal could see him coming a mile off. It was only in snow where he wasn't as obvious moving about.

BonzoBanana If there was a book about Casper the Cat, I would buy it. Thanks for sharing.

MelissaLee1963 and B, I think we need to extend the saying cats have nine lives to ten after reading this , but i wouldn't want to upset the Egyptians from where this originated from , Quote

''The Egyptians, revered and even worshipped cats. A common creation myth says that the sun god Ra, who took the shape of the “Great Tomcat” or Mau during his visits to the underworld, engendered eight other gods—thus representing nine lives in one''

Here he is sleeping next to Nelson. I would guess this is about 6 or 7 years before he died although not sure to be honest.

MelissaLee1963 Ollie reminds me of a stray cat many years ago that we used to call 'fish finger nose' as he had a very rectangular nose but apart from that looked very similar to Ollie. He used to sneak in the cat door and nick a bit of food on occasion but then my mother would feed him properly for a while.

hspexy I think the oldest I knew was one of my own. He was about 17. He was rather docile at the last and then a likkle dog snuck under the garden fence. Ginger had a mad spin of energy and sent the dog packing with his tail between his legs. He died a few weeks later but he had his final bout of glory lol.
