Homecare Agreement Renewal Shock!!!

Hi all
I had a British Gas homecare agreement and I paid £241.56. I was happy with them and was going to stay upon renewal. I giot the shck of my life - increased to 623.65!!!
Yes I got some discounts last year but it the original price was nowhere nea r£623
Does anyone have experience with other prividers?
SmartCover keeps coming up in my seraches but there is not much review online

Same happened to me , got British Gas Home care on offer last year for £120 , renewal £480 
. Got the same thing ( everything + Boiler service , £60 excess ) with Homeserve after searches £18 a month (£216 per annum ) with £60 cashback from TCB at the time .
All the others I checked were insurance based and the T&C s were very onerous . An alternative is to add Home Emergency to your Home Insurance , much cheaper but not full coverage .
Golfforall Thanks - yes i didnt like the insurance based options.
For example if you take plumbing cover they will only deal with it if its an emegency. so if you have 2 toilets then if 1 isnt working then you have an alternative and so they dont class that as emegency and so wont attend!
Looks like the government couldn't care less about the old folks unless they arrived by dinghies.

. Do you realise the subject is about insurance for your domestic electricity, gas appliances , plumbing etc ? Nothing to do with being old .
No need to show the membership that you are an idiot , we already know that ! Your ignorance might be excusable (given your comment record on here ) . But your failure to read the previous comment (explaining it ) is totally inexcusable . Luckily you ddn't have any credibility to lose .
