Just for Fun: Mild Inconveniences

Other

You are a burglar, only instead of stealing when you break in, you do things to mildly inconvenience your victim. What would you do?

I would unplug all the electrical appliances (apart from the fridge/freezer, obvs!)

gerrykelly25 Maybe or it may be the Irish genes. We actually did this after house sitting for a friend, fortunately they saw the funny side.

I assume I was doing this because I didn't like them ? So, I would hide the remote control, toilet paper and remove the light bulbs

I read some years ago that someone had put prawns into a brass curtain rail, the occupier of the house couldn't find the source of the smell and after months of trying gave up and moved house. He took the curtain rail with him😀

davidstockport yes, I read that. You would really have to dislike someone to do that! Surely they must have been able to identify where the smell was coming from?

I also read of someone who sprinkled cress seeds over a carpet and watered it thoroughly…..

gerrykelly25 Surprisingly smells are notoriously difficult to locate exactly.

It used to be common practice for people leaving guest houses, they'd no intention of returning to, to hide a kipper and leave a note for their hosts: You know what it is... you know who did it... BUT WHERE IS IT!

gerrykelly25 No need to apologise - it was six months ago. And I'm sure it wasn't intentional. At first I thought it was the original "resurrected". (as often happens).😀

Reading some of these answers is very worrying. I think I would prefer to be actually burgled and the ‘silver taken’ then have this weird things done to me.

Or for people with OCD just turn all the tins the other way round so they're no longer facing forward, or place some upside down 😆

Black-tape the infra red sensors on the tv/entertainment system, nothing damaging but really aggravating.

That would definitely work for me as we have loads of power cuts here. I’d just assume it was another and sit and wait for the electricity to come back on.....

There is a scene like this in the 2001 French film, Amélie. When the protagonist breaks into a greengrocers apartment, as he is a bit of a bully, to get her revenge by gaslighting/ tormenting him. She swaps his slippers with a smaller sized pair, replaces his toothpaste with foot cream, changes his saved phone numbers on the landline, sets his alarm clock to 4am, adds salt to his Whisky, swaps door handles around, etc.

I haven’t seen Amélie. I especially like the slipper swap! That would be very confusing!
