Got Married during Lockdown to Avoid Inviting Relatives
Ask a Question
Just read an article about how a couple deliberately got married during lockdown in order to avoid inviting relatives.
Perhaps this suits some people due to family politics or lack of finances.
Has lockdown suited you? Have you managed to avoid doing something you would normally have been expected to do?
Excellent money saving tip and even better if you dont like some of your family so you can get away without inviting them
Opposite happened to a friend of mine, she had been planning her wedding for three years, so apart from the date loads of changes.
Good on them. It’s strange that we still feel obliged to invite relatives even though you might not have seen them in years or even like them. I’m pretty sure one of nephews got married in Australia knowing how many couldn’t or wished not to spend that much money. Flights, hotels, food and car hire.
It sounds like a good idea but maybe not to then publish the fact for all their family to see?
Hahah great way to save money but i think i want to invite all my relatives and friends otherwise they would all cause a fuss
I had a baby in the summer. My parents live in an area that has been in local lockdown or national lockdown the whole time since he was born. I obviously didn't plan it this way but they were very critical and overbearing with my previous babies. It's been so nice to fully enjoy my time off with him and has been great for my mental health.
I thought marriage was a happy event, why would some plot to avoid inviting closed ones. So sad for the couple!
